Villa Le Fontanelle - We sail past Villa Le Fontanelle, famous for being the home of Gianni Versace. The yellow-painted, four-story building was constructed in the first half of the 19th century in neoclassical style by the eccentric Lord Charles Currie, an Englishman who fell in love with Lake Como. Unable to find a villa for sale, he built his own right on the water’s edge. It was later owned by Antonio Besana, a friend of composer Giuseppe Verdi.
