Experience the unique opportunity to enter a genuine Carrara marble cave.

It’s our pleasure to meet you! We’re both drivers and tour guides and can’t wait to introduce you to Tuscany’s hidden treasure!

We’ll pick you up in our professionally-equipped van from Lucca or Pisa and transit you to Carrara’s mountainous terrain. There, we’ll arrive at the cave and switch to an all-terrain, 4-wheel drive Jeep to take us further inside.

Expect a professional guide to enlighten you with the history and legends associated with this magical place — from marble extraction techniques to the production of an exclusive wine and methods to distinguish genuine Carrara marble from imitations.

After the cave exploration, we’ve planned a trip to the quaint village of Colonnata. Famous for its delicious ‘lardo di colonnata’ salami, we’ll guide you to the best food shop to get a slice or organize a local restaurant visit for you to sample it!

Great day - We had a lovely family tour today with Raphaeli. He collected us with a smile this morning from our hotel. His knowledge of all areas that we drove through was fantastic and his enthusiasm for all places was clear. He made us all feel at ease and it was a lovely chilled out trip. During our trip inside the Carrara mountain he spoke to all the staff like friends and he recommended good picture spots for us. We also visited Colonnata where we had a tasty lunch and he recommended the local meat which was fab. Thanks again for a fantastic day!!

Tommaso ensures that your tour is personal and authentically Italian!!!! - We had an incredible day with Tommaso as our tour guide to Carrara's query. It was the perfect blend of adventure, history, and local experience. With an on-time pick up in a beautiful and extremely clean van, Tommaso was an excellent driver who was intentional about getting to know each of us on the tour. The views on the way to the mountain were amazing, and the inside of the Carrara mountain was a once-in-a-lifetime experience you do not want to miss out on. OF COURSE, this quest is not complete without fresh food. Tommaso brought us to a very local lunch spot in Colonnata, which is famous for lardo! Wonderful conversation over lunch with the freshest foods and great wine! Tommaso ensures that your tour is personal and authentically Italian. If you visit Italy, you MUST book with the best tour service and friend in Lucca!!

Pilgrimage to Carrara - Our tour was incredible. I am a stone carver sculptor myself so this tour meant so much to me. Having the rare access inside the cave of marble in Carrera, in the heart of the mountain, was spectacular. Our tour guide was very accommodating and made special concessions for our wants and needs and custom tailored the tour for us. I highly recommend this experience.

Stone Carver's Pilgrimage to Carrara - Thomaso Della Bida, (spelling?) was such a charming, host and tour guide. A wealth of information. So pleasant and engaging. He did not overwhelm us but engaged us with friendly discussions. From start to finish the tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. I am a stone sculptor myself, so for me, it was like a pilgrimage to visit Carrara. The cave itself was magnificent beyond comprehension. I can go on and on, but just to say yes, definitely book this tour.

Fascinating Tour, Wonderful Guide - This was a wonderful tour, well worth the money. Our guide, Rafaelle, could not have been more interesting or engaging, with a rich history of Lucca and stories about the surrounding region. We toured inside the mountain - it was the experience of a lifetime. Fascinating! We had lunch in Colonnata, a city that dates to Roman times and known for their lardo. Thank you, Rafaelle, for taking such good care of us. Patricia & Gary S.

Carrara Marble Mine and delicious authentic lunch - We had a phenomenal day visiting the Carrara Marble Mine and nearby Colonnata for lunch. Tommaso is warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. We learned so much as we enjoyed a cultural exchange over lunch. In Colonatta we had a very authentic food experience trying Lardo, Salami, artesianal Parmesan, Pasta fritta, fresh vegetables and local wine . It was very authentic and delicious. We didn’t need dinner after our lunch feast. The Marble tour was so interesting. You go right into the working mine. It is completely safe. Fascinating. There are a few marble shops if you want to purchase something made of Carrara marble. Prices are reasonable. Tommaso was an excellent driver and guide. Highly recommend this experience.

TAKE THIS TOUR - Rafaelle was terrific! He shared local history throughout the drive and his knowledge of the region is exceptional. The informative cave marble technique was exceptional and as a bonus was a cool break from the heat. Our tour was beyond perfect, as Rafaelle even spent time taking us to Pietrasanta, explaining its continuing contribution to the art of sculpture today. It was a great experience and we plan to use this company again and again as discover Tuscany!

An awesome and unique adventure - This activity was really really interresting. You see marble quarries from outside but getting in the hearth of a marble mountain, see that marble cave and with people still working in it is really impressive. Honestly one of the highlight of our trip Also Tomasso is a great guy that is also a good driver and guide. It was easy to make contact with him and settle all the details by mail. He was really helpful finding solutions we didn't thought about. His english is excellent and his knowledge of the region is a great plus to learn about it on the way. We highly recommend this activity!
