Arrival and welcome to Jerzu

Jerzu to Ulassai

Comune di Jerzu - Departure from Jerzu in the morning to its hills, famous for the production of Cannonau wine, one of the secrets of the longevity of Sardis. Then walking towards the valley of Tacchi Ogliastra.

The walk will continue on the high cliffs, the oak forests and in the Mediterranean maquis, sweeping a view of the surrounding area and the sea.

This will be an opportunity with an herbalist to know the different plants and their uses.

This expedition on foot, with baggage-bearing donkeys, places you amidst the pristine nature, presenting genuine Sardinia: green oak forests, dense Mediterranean greenery, rivers and pure spring water sources tucked away in Sardinia’s tallest mountains.

You’ll encounter wild pigs, deer and characteristic Sardinian wildlife. If fortunate, we may spot mouflons, horses and raptors from afar. It’s also a chance to connect with local shepherds and the residents of these quaint villages.

The Sardinian donkey, unfalteringly patient and tireless, is the quintessential shepherd’s creature and ideally suited for our trek as it carries luggage. Usually, every two persons are assigned one donkey.
