Highlights
  • La Cinta Muraria - Camminamento di Ronda - The Parapet Walkway stands 15 meters above Cittadella’s walls on the historic defensive path designed to protect the town from above during enemy attacks. Recent renovations have made this historic Walkway safe for public access, offering a fantastic opportunity to explore the town from a unique and captivating historical viewpoint. This nearly two-kilometer-long route allows visitors to experience many medieval museums and re-enactment rooms in the Captain’s house along the way. Additionally, inside the Torre di Malta, visitors can explore the nearly thirty-meter-high Belvedere, the Siege Museum, and the Civic Archaeological Museum. The panoramic view extends over the surrounding countryside, including the Euganean Hills, the Berici mountains, the Alpine foothills, and the walled towns of Marostica and Asolo, as well as Mt. Grappa.

  • Museo del Duomo di Cittadella - This museum features an art gallery that includes the magnificent “Supper at Emmaus,” a Renaissance masterpiece by Jacopo Bassano. The museum houses a diverse collection of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and applied arts from various historical periods, starting from the fourteenth century.

  • Palazzo Pretorio - Once the seat of the Podesta during the Venetian Republic, known as the “Serenissima,” this building features frescoes of faux tapestries with vertical bands, polychrome friezes, circles, and medallions with portraits of notable historical figures. It also includes the ancient prisons of the Magistrates’ Court. Step back into the Renaissance era of Cittadella.

  • Teatro sociale - The elegant neoclassical facade is attributed to Giuseppe Jappelli, the creator of the famous Pedrocchi Café in Padua. The stunning frescoes inside were painted by Francesco Bagnara, the same artist who decorated “La Fenice” theatre in Venice. Discover the hidden “Jewel” of Cittadella.

  • Villa Ca’ Nave e L’Oratorio del Salvatore - Visit the Savior Oratory (the Villa is not open to the public), a Baroque building that houses artworks attributed to Louis Dorigny and Giusto Le Court.

Exciting return to the Middle Ages - Cute town whose historic center is surrounded by medieval walls and whose walkway is still open to the public, the route is about 2 km at an average height of 15m (about 1 hour's walk)... I felt like a patrol soldier

wonderful experience - The route of about 1km and a half is truly wonderful. If you are lucky enough to go on a clear day you can see the Alps and the whole town. Really nice.

Happy With Visit - What a lovely place to visit! We did a one night stay in town and loved all the Cittadella Card offered. The fact that it can be used all year is wonderful, too! The museum was well done and walking the perimeter of the wall was fabulous.

Nice walk - Not possible to do the whole wall at present but half was enough to appreciate the town below. Interesting museum included to give feel and story to the town

One small change needed - Beautiful walls and views, but it would be a good idea to allow people to leave at the halfway point (especially for a drink on a hot day...when the drink machine is not working!) and then re-start the walk for the second half.
