Miniera di Monteponi - One of the most important mining testimonies of the territory of Iglesias is that of Monteponi. An imposing complex that can still be visited in some of its parts such as the prestigious Villa Bellavista, the first headquarters of the management and today the headquarters of the Erminio Ferraris after-work association, Pozzo Sella, Pozzo Vittorio Emanuele and the Villamarina Gallery, which can still be visited today.
The Monteponi Mine is just one of the attractions that can be reached by motorbike in an easy on/off road route along the most important mining routes of the Iglesiente. -
Porto Flavia - Defined as “the gateway to the sea”, it is an ancient mining port unique of its kind, which overlooks the wonderful sea of Masua and the Pan di Zucchero stack, a natural monument 133 meters high.
This suspended port considerably improved the work of loading and transporting the minerals which were loaded directly onto the ships.
To date, it is possible to visit the site after having traveled a wonderful road, sometimes on/off road, with a unique panorama of its kind. -
Pan di Zucchero - it is the natural monument of the south-western coast of the island, now a symbol of the city of Iglesias.
-
Buggerru - Small mining village overlooking the Sardinian coast, nestled in one of the valleys of the Iglesienti mountains.
-
Grugua - Corner of south-western Sardinia whose name is linked to that of the Modigliani family. Along the way we will cross some of the structures that belonged to the family of entrepreneurs and artists
-
Miniera di Montevecchio - In the territory of the Costa Verde, between Guspini and Arbus, stands the large mining complex of Montevecchio, easily reachable via on/off road routes immersed in the wildest nature.
The mine, which can now be visited, still preserves the history of a trade that has made this area great. -
Cala Domestica - After the exciting curves of the SP83 there is the Oasis par excellence: the small beach of Caladomestica, one hundred of two limestone promontories, in the mining era it was used as a port for loading and transporting minerals from the nearby Acquaresi mine.
There is a large paid car park, a walkway for the descent and a kiosk, Oasi Beach, where it is possible to taste typical local products and book a tour on a rubber dinghy.
