Highlights
  • Provincetown - Nearly 400 years ago, they said I had “rather bine a Husband than a Wife… a preacher than a Hearer” and banished me from Massachusetts.

Hm, well… I’ve been able to pull myself back and gain a toehold at the tip of the (now) state that United them all. Please join me in spreading my “corrupt opinions” once more on a history tour through Provincetown’s center!

As the Puritans’ worst nightmare and icon for renovating gender, I think you will find there is no better mouth from which to hear Ptown’s story.

Leaning into foes’ accusations of “Licentiousnesse and sinfull Liberty”, some call my modern preaching comedy. Please understand therefore that the tour is for adults only.

Do not waste time in discovering the grace of true Christ in your souls and join me as a member of the Elect!

Additional Information

Embark on a historical journey in Provincetown with one of the most notorious figures in American history, Anne Hutchinson. Banished from Massachusetts four centuries ago, she possesses an intimate knowledge of the town’s rich past. Your walk will take you through the heart of the city, invoking the meaningful locales that shape Provincetown’s narrative. Don’t anticipate extensive mileage (1 mi); instead, prepare for the scandalous conduct that caused Anne’s expulsion. This tour is strictly for ADULTS ONLY, preferably 21 and over, and identification will be checked to ensure all participants are of legal age. Anne’s delivery, which lasts about an hour, has been known to provoke such intense mirth that it takes great composure to withstand it. Therefore, we suggest arriving early for a libation at the Crown & Anchor patio bar. It’s worth noting that Anne’s opponents believed she was ‘more of a husband than a wife’ and that her aspiration was to be ‘lauded, admired and followed.’ You can now achieve this by following her 1600s social media handle: @americanjesabel.

  • Adults only and suggested 21+

Hysterical Historical Tour. - The entire tour was excellent. Our guide was hilarious and obviously well known in town as many people (NOT in our tour) said hello as we wandered through town. Groups are limited to 10 and there was excellent interaction the whole time. Learned a lot in between the laughter. Do it !!

Oh my Anne - Ann was a delight. We enjoyed walking around the city with her. She had a lot of interesting things to say. There was a lot of history about Provincetown and a lot of jokes and a lot of fun around. I very much enjoyed her tour. I got lost going back to my car and would’ve liked a little bit of more directions on which way to go but other than that, we had a wonderful experience.

Witty, Wonderful, Informative Tour!!! - We really enjoyed this tour! Anne shared some of the amazing details of her life and death (some 380 years ago). Then led the group on a walking tour of downtown Provincetown, providing us with interesting historical facts. Anne is witty, informative and charming! With this, I can’t wait to see her standup comedy show this week!!!

Hear ye, hear ye….. - Verily, I must commend unto thee the most estimable historical tour of Provincetown. 'Tis a journey most worthy of thy time and attention. Anne, with wisdom and mirth (and a “bit” of sarcastic wit) transports you to an age past while traversing the quaint and storied streets of Provincetown. The tour is most excellently fashioned, each step an epitome of historical import. But the crowning jewel of the tour is Anne’s knack for turning historical tidbits into punchlines. Who knew a 17th century religious rebel could be so entertaining?!
