- Caparica bar - In the two-hour surf lesson we teach the essence of surfing. The two main techniques that all surfers need to know: how to paddle and catch waves and how to stand on the board. This is the beginning of surfing and a lifestyle!
What to expect from one of our surf lessons:
- Security Summary
- Warm Up
- Instruction on the beach on how to paddle and put standing on the board (stand-up)
- Practice in the water according to the instructions given on the beach
- Comments on the water with the instructor

Get surfing guidance from Gecko Surf School! We equip you with all the essentials required for surfing. Every session commences with a brief on-shore teaching about the fundamentals of surfing and marine safety.
Following that, we proceed into the water for the remainder of your lesson. Our trainers are ready to have you surfing your initial wave swiftly!
Surf with other novices. If you enjoy mingling with new faces, this lesson is tailor-made for you.

Surfing fun! - The teacher (Marco) was a very nice and relaxed person who helped us a lot with the basics and gave some great tips on how to advance. Everyone had a fun time in the water and it was a fun experience all together.

Awesome first surf lesson! - Awesome surf lesson! The instructors are super kind, friendly and helpful. It was my first time surfing and I absolutely loved it. Completely safe and well supervised, and the teachers give great tips to help you catch your first waves. I went with a friend but there was also a family with little kids with us in the group lesson and they also had a great experience. I highly recommend Gecko surf school!

A memorable experience - Maximum dedication! My daughters went to experiment for the first time. Dario was tireless. For two hours he never gave up. Always with good disposition and persistence. They loved and ended the surf class.

Brilliant experience - Decided to try a surf lesson while we were on holiday. It was a brilliant experience. The instructors were all very helpful and welcoming. Our teacher, David was really patient and encouraging. He explained everything clearly. The beach here is beautiful too so that’s a bonus. Would highly recommend booking with these guys and we will have another lesson if we come back again.

Great surfing experience - Had a great experience surfing for the first time with Gecko Surf School. The instructor, Marco, was patient in giving an introduction to safety measures and surfing technique. Felt safe in the water, as the instructor was close by at all times. He also gave tips for each trial, which improved my surfing attempts. Highly recommend for beginners!

Fantastic experience - It was a fantastic experience, Costa de Caparica was the setting for my first surf lesson and I was just so happy to have tried this experience with you.... with professionalism and friendliness the instructor made this experience even more magical.

Fantastic instructors, great location for beginners, so happy I went with Gecko! - Amazing instructors, the waves were perfect for my first time surfing, went at 10:30am during low tide. The instructors knew exactly how skilled we were and would gently push us to keep surfing larger waves that we were comfortable with. By the end of the 2 hour session, I was able to consistently ride waves from 20-40ft out, all the way into the shore! Absolutely amazing team, great for beginners and people who might be a little rusty, 10/10 will absolutely come here again!

Great experience! - I joined a group surf lesson with Gecko Surf School and had an amazing time! The staff were super friendly and helpful, our instructor had us all riding waves for the whole session. It was a very fun experience and I highly recommend Gecko Surf School to anyone interested in learning to surf!
