Fascinating boat tour with bilingual guide - We really enjoyed this private tour from our resort in Amatique Bay to Livingston, Playa Blanca and Rio Cocoli. Our tour guide, Hugo, was great - he was very knowledgeable about the local birds and plants which was interesting to me. I am a bird watcher so it was nice to learn the names of some of the birds (in English and Spanish). Our captain was very skilled and the boat was shaded which was nice since the sun is very strong in that area. We were a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see Siete Altares (because of the drought - there was no water in the pools). Playa Blanca was absolute gorgeous and peaceful- there were not many people there. We enjoyed relaxing and a morning coffee there. My husband snorkeled at Playa Blanca and in Rio Cocoli, which had very clear water, and I swam a bit. There was not a lot to see in Livingston but we did enjoy a little shopping for Guatemalan artesania, a walk through the town and the highlight - a delicious and HUGE bowl of tapado - a local seafood soup at Happy Fish restaurant. Hugo also told us about the Garifuna people who founded Livingston although we didn’t see many of them. Overall I do recommend this tour - just riding in the boat along the coast was fascinating in itself. Hugo is bilingual so if you need an English speaking guide he’s got you covered and he will make sure you stay safe too!!
