Meeting with an Ocelot - We booked the night out and Tico offered to do it with Kevin who speaks French. What an amazing experience! We saw many species such as frogs, a snake, 2 sloths and especially the highlight of the show an Ocelot! An encounter that we could not have imagined but that has happened. A huge bravo to a team of quality and professionals!

Feel like an explorer - I really like night hikes so I knew this was my cuppa tea. Maybe it’s because I am British. I don’t know, but I really like to feel like an explorer off into the unknown. This was the perfect night to do it. It had been raining steadily all afternoon and continued into the evening so I wasn’t worried about mosquitoes, they hate to fly in the rain apparently. Ayder my guide met me promptly in front of the restaurant that served excellent food by the way! And off we went, I followed him in my four wheel drive and after a relatively short drive out of town up some dirt roads we arrived at our starting point. Like I said it had been raining for a while and it was fun to slosh across a creek to get started. The forest was dense but had decent paths and before you knew it Ayder was finding all manner of cool insects. I was hopeless finding anything Ayder was a magnet. The diversity of spiders, insects I can’t name and, all manner of frogs and lizards was astounding. Ayder really knows his stuff and was a considerate guide never felt rushed it was a blast!

Exciting experience to see nocturnal wildlife! - Raw and incredible experience - Kevin was a great guide with an evident passion for what he does. We saw snakes, insects, frogs and even glimpsed some larger mammals. Area gets a bit swampy in the rainy season but offers ample opportunity to see and learn about Costa Rican nocturnal wildlife!

We followed the guides... - We followed the guides car to the trail, there we were provided with headlamps and a short explanation. Trail was very muddy (peak rainy season) but we did see a lot of cool animals. Less explanations and guidance than other guided tours we did
