An amazing day thanks to our guide! - We ended up on a tour with just my spouse and I. Roberto was our guide for the day where he treated us like family. He is so knowledgable and passionate about his country that it made for a very enjoyable day. We were fortunate to have good weather with the winds not being too dramatic. Roberto knew so much about every place we went to visit that we got a very vivid idea of what life is like in Puerta Madryn. There was a lot of wildlife along the way to admire. We did see sea lions and seals but the penguins seemed to have taken the day off from viewing as they were no where in sight. Full disclosure, the sea lions and seals are only able to be seen from above on an overlook. Best practice for the animals but there were no up close pictures of these creatures. Our lunch was delicious and plentiful. We did eat in the car as the wind had picked up and it was more comfortable to eat without all the dust. The roads on the peninsula Valdes are all dirt roads that have been have been graded and covered in gravel. It was a smooth enough ride but there is a lot of dust. Puerta Madryn is very different than we had anticipated with the incredibly arid conditions. We were happy that we got a taste of the culture on our short visit.

Good wildlife trip - Good trip, collected and returned to cruise pier without problems. Saw penguins, elephant seals, walruses, burrowing owls, guanacos and rheas . Good packed lunch. It is a lot of driving, and the countryside is repetitive but the guide, Martin, and driver were very good at finding wild life and we were given a lot of interesting information. Well worth it.

Excellent excursion in Puerto Madryn! - Martin did an excellent job of locating and explaining the flora and fauna of the Valdes Peninsula. He was knowledgeable, kind and very fun to spend the day with! We of course saw oodles of Magellan Penguins, sea elephants and Gunacos, but he also took us to see a huge Sea Lion colony and reas and a group of young owls learning to fly. What a wonderful experience!

A Different Kind of Country Ride - Well organized. It was a long bumpy ride, but worth it to see the penguins and elephant seals. The tour guide and driver were excellent

Puerto Madryn, the scenery alone is worth the tour - The scenery once we got to the location. The wildlife was as the guide advised, no guarantees as it depends on the time year for each species. That being said, we saw everything we hoped to see. The guide, Martin was excellent. A lot of the tour was driving over very rough roads

Did not inform us they were leaving an hour earlier than scheduled. Luckily there were spaces on another small tour bus - Drive for 2 hours 30 minute through a desert to get to the beach. The viewing area was at least 120 meters from the animals. We were only there for 50 minutes. A lovely beach but not really worth the cost and time. Bring binoculars. All in all a disappointing experience

Average tour, not recommended - The tour was taken Friday Feb 2nd, 2024. This trip is a long drive of approx 2.5 to 3 hours (from Puerto Madryn)with stops at a Visitor Centre, a viewpoint for seals and a viewpoint for penguins. There are few seals and few penguins. Both are located on beaches below a cliff at a distance. Our tour guide provided average service. We saw another tour guide providing explanations in the Visitor Centre and at the stops along the beach. Ours did not. The microphone did not work well so people in the rear of the van had difficulty hearing. I cannot recommend this tour as it is not good value for the price.

2 mistakes by Viatour - Viatours gave the wrong ship name to their tour guide (NCL rather than Viking), & they did not respond to my ?? the night before tour, asking if 8a was ok to get off the ship, as we had come into port the prior evening. Where they didn't respond, we got off at 8a. We could not find their guide, called & they advised the tour had already left, could not come back nor provide another guide, admitted their 2 mistakes. We thankfully were able to get on a Viking tour, but if cost us $658 for 2, rather than the $300 we paid them. Yes, they refunded our $300, but we felt they should have also credited our CC the additional $358 we incurred due to their mistakes. They refused to do so. We booked 4 Viatours for this cruise, 1st 2 were excellent, 4th will be in Montevideo on 2/10, which I've already confirmed directly with our private guide so don't anticipate any issues. It's the lack of covering our extra costs incurred due to their errors that has us very upset with them, otherwise they do fine.

Dreadful - Our tour was very disappointing as we were jammed into the van like sardines. Even worse our guide was extremely hard to hear despite her English being good. All the information was lost in a jumbled garble and only 10 minutes at the penguin colony but longer at the sea lion lookout. That was a waste of time and we were expected to sit in the hot bus and eat our lunch.
