Puerto Maldonado - Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado and Amazonian Jungle Adventure.
Your thrilling Amazonian jungle adventure begins upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado. Our assistant will greet you at the airport or bus station, taking you to our office for registration.
08:45 AM: “We will head to the river port. There, we will take the canoe to our lodge in the Tambopata Amazon. (40 minutes away). Enjoy a refreshing fruit juice as our guide briefs you on the jungle hike and lodge policies.
11:30 AM: After settling into your rooms, visit Monkey Island to observe various monkey species, sloths, and turtles.
01:30 PM: Return to the lodge for lunch.
03:30 PM: Embark on a two-hour hike with a local guide through dense tropical forest. Discover medicinal plants and wildlife like monkeys, parrots, and macaws.
05:30 PM: Take a canoe ride along the Madre de Dios River to spot nocturnal animals. Return for dinner and spend the night at our lodge.
Lago Sandoval - Animals you might see:
Monkeys: Such as howler monkeys, spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, among others.
Exotic birds: Parrots, macaws, and many other species of colorful birds.
Reptiles and insects: Snakes, lizards, butterflies, and a variety of insects.
Mammals: You may be fortunate enough to see tapirs, coatis, sloths, and, occasionally, jaguars or pumas (although they are more challenging to spot).
Plants and flora: There are numerous medicinal plants, orchids, and unique trees in the Amazon region.
Remember that wildlife observation can vary, as these animals move freely in their natural habitat. Additionally, some tours also include nocturnal activities to explore the jungle’s nightlife, where it’s possible to spot different species of animals active during the night. It is advisable to check the specific itinerary of your tour for exact details.
Visit to Lake Sandoval and the Machiguenga Family”
Lago Sandoval - 05:00 AM: One of the most exciting moments is at dawn, so our tour starts at that moment.
We’ll take our canoe to Sandoval Lake, located within the Tambopata National Reserve.
We’ll walk a 3 km. wooden trail to reach the lake, where you’ll marvel at the exuberant biodiversity, spotting black caimans, giant otters, birds, and more.

02:00 PM: We’ll return to the lodge for lunch.
After that, we’ll visit a Matsigenka family and participate in their traditional activities, such as using bows and arrows, weaving cotton, and making clothing called “Cushma.”
We’ll learn how to make ropes from plant bark and start a fire using natural materials.
05:30 PM: We’ll return to the lodge at dusk and set out again to explore the nocturnal wildlife. Dinner and rest at the lodge.”
Parrots and Parakeet’s Clay Lick – Puerto Maldonado
Tambopata National Reserve - THIRD DAY: PARROT AND MACAW CLAY LICK “LA CACHUELA” AND RELAX
At 5:00 a.m., we’ll embark upstream in our canoe for an hour to reach the stunning parrot and macaw clay lick “La Cachuela.” Enjoy the sunrise as we observe parrots feeding on salted clay. In this lush jungle, nature is unpredictable; we may also spot toucans and sloths. After this, we’ll return to the lodge for breakfast. At 09:40 a.m., join an optional sports fishing excursion to experience Amazonian ichthyofauna,Relax in our lodge in the hammocks in a calm and peaceful manner . Then, we’ll return to the city to collect luggage and head to the airport two hours before your flight. At 5:00 p.m., we’ll be at the bus station heading to Cusco or Puno. Get ready for a day of adventure in the magical Amazon!
