It’s a common sight to encounter a local on a donkey carrying milk, to dodge poultry and wild turkeys scurrying across the road, to spot piglets rummaging in the dirt, and to exchange friendly waves with the cheerful residents as we make our way to our subsequent destination… a traditional cigar-making hut where you’ll be introduced to the art of cigar rolling, savor the taste of locally-produced organic hot chocolate and coffee, and even sample a little Mamajuana!

Book this super fun 5 hour shore excursion for an exciting off-road back-country ATV QUAD adventure including port pick up and return.
Ride on the beach until we turn off onto back country dirt farm roads, make a cigar shack stop, then head back to the beach for an authentic Dominican lunch, lounging and a swim if you like. Experienced guides, helmet and local rum drinks served on your way back to port!
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Minimum age to drive a quad is 16 years old
- Minimum passenger age is 5 years old (children 5-15 years or age may not drive the quad)
- Anyone intoxicated at pick up will not be permitted to take the tour
- Maximum weight on one quad is 300lbs single driver or combined with a passenger
- We require a minimum of 2 quads booked to operate the tour
- Not recommended for travelers with back, neck or knee problems

Great fun for all! - We traveled in December so it was quite muddy which added to the fun. But, be mindful that everything can get wet and dirty, so only bring items you really need. Plan to bring a water proof bag to store your stuff and you can attach it to the ATV. I had no experience with driving and ATV but learned real quick. They take you on trails that were fun and safe. We had one ATV that the chain kept dropping off. The attendees quickly switched out the unit with another and we were back onto the fun.

Wonderful experience. Must book. - This was an awesome adventure through the backwoods of Dominican Republic. Our guide Alexander was wonderful. He took us to his village. We got to meet wonderful people along the way. We had a wonderful lunch prepared by a local woman on the beach. Alexander had great communication and customer service skills he made us feel very comfortable. Make sure that we all stuck together. It was a very small group of us in the hands on experience was great.

Awesome family ATV adventure!! - Fun day with amazing views, delicious lunch, and restful beach stop. Alexander The Great was our tour guide and he was wonderful! They took awesome pictures and videos and treated us with rum drinks!

Marvelous, muddy adventure - This excursion was amazing. Alexander and his crew were able to show us the beautiful countryside of the DR. Luckily for us it had been raining that week and rained during our excursion, so we were covered head to toe in mud. We would not have wanted it any other way. The lunch and the private beach were an added bonus to the whole day.

Don’t think about it, just do it! - This excursion completely surpassed our expectations!! We got to see farmlands, cattle, beaches, rivers, drive through towns and more. Teco beach is gorgeous and we had some of the best chicken we’ve ever had made with love by a local legend. All of our guides were really cool (shoutout to Sabino!) and took some awesome videos and pics of us. 10/10
We will definitely be coming back!

The ATV ride was just ok, but the stop for lunch on the beach was fantastic, food was great!!!!!! - The lunch on the beach was the best part, the views and beach were great and the food was fantastic.

Amazing Tour - Alex was an amazing guide and made several jokes. Just be prepared to get dirty. I would recommend wearing goggles because sunglasses didn’t help much. Most of the ride is on dirt roads. Lunch was actually a home cook meal which was delicious.Overall the ATV ride was great. You will also have time at the end to explore the shops at the port. My only complaint was when it was time to purchase the video clips and pictures. I felt that I was scammed,but I really wanted the footage. The photographer told me $60. When I went to checkout with someone else the price went to $77 because of taxes. Not sure what kind of taxes they charge.

The best day! - I can’t say enough good things about this excursion! It was worth every peso!
To start, Lidia was amazing and helpful during booking. She got back to me promptly and when some plans needed to change due to availability, she was there to make it seamless and easy— exactly what you want when you’re in another country booking excursions last minute!
We got picked up on time by Diego (our driver) and Carlos (our guide). Y’all, Carlos was PHENOMENAL! He was charismatic, kind, helpful, and full of knowledge and personality. From start to finish, he made this excursion memorable and fun! On the way home, I asked him what the fruit was a lady was selling on the side of the road and he had Diego pull over, Carlos jumped out of the van and paid for some quenepas with his own money so we could try them. I mean it, he went above and beyond!
It was just my boyfriend and I, so not overly crowded like some excursions. Our ATVs were very nice and clean. It was raining and Carlos made sure to check in with us to make sure we were still comfortable!
We stopped at a lovely little spot to try handmade cigars, mamajuana (a portlike wine), hot chocolate, and coffee. We bought a little of everything and felt like it was very reasonably priced. We loved being able to give directly to people who lived in the area we were cursing through on our ATVs.
Lunch was very casual by the beach and delicious- a true Dominican meal! It started to rain and everyone jumped to and helped us get to shelter. The rain passed quickly and we swam at the gorgeous beach for awhile before heading back!
On the car ride home, Carlos kept the rum and cokes coming while also being very personable and keeping us laughing! He’s a truly, authentic soul!
Excursions can be overwhelming sometimes but if we’re ever back in the Dominican, we will definitely book with Iguana Mama! They made this the best day we’ve had since we’ve been here!
Couple additional details:
Bring sunglasses for sure and face covering if you don’t want dirt in your teeth.
Your bag for the beach goes with you so be prepared for that. Mine was not waterproof but also didn’t get dirty, even with the rain and puddles. Save room in your bag for purchases!

Not recommended. - I was very disappointed of the tour. The ATV ride was mostly on dirt road with little sights to see. The tour guide said that we will ride through a river. The reality is that we rode through a puddle of water for less than 30 sec. The beach that we stop for lunch was full of seaweed and the water was murky because of its proximity to river mouth. Another individual rode alongside us and took pictures and video, but the package price was exorbitant not worth purchasing. I wish I didn’t book this tour.
