Great driver! - We were a group of 6 adults and 6 teens coming in on a cruise to Amber Cove. We really wanted to do the Damajagua waterfalls and then some of us wanted to do some ziplines and some wanted to see the monkeys at the monkey farm. I tried really hard to find a tour that does all 3, but I could not find one that exists. So I found Jesus' company, you can hire a van (or 2 in our case) for the day to take you wherever you want. Perfect. My plan was to hire the vans ($200 total, $17 pp), go to the waterfalls ($12 pp), then one van go to zip lines and one go to the monkey farm and then have our drivers take us to get a local lunch since they should know the good cheap places. This plan should save money AND satisfy everyone's wishes. I googled as much as I could before hand but I couldn't find WHERE all the different zip lines were or how much they cost.
When we got to the waterfalls we found out, that if you're going to do their ziplines with the waterfalls, you have to do the zip lines first, so you don't get the equipment wet and also so you don't have to hike a 45 minute mile up a mountain twice, because the zip lines and waterfalls are on the same area. Then Jesus told us we probably could not see monkeys because we didn't have a reservation. I never saw a word about getting a reservation for that. So at that point we just decided we would all do the zip and dip combo and hope there was time after to see some monkeys. The price for zip and dip with lunch (you couldn't exclude lunch for a cheaper price) was $49 pp. We also chose to hire the photographer there for the day for just our group. It was $70 for the flash drive plus tip. Stivan was our photographer and he was very good. We thought it was worth the price.
The activities were super fun and everyone had a great time. They told us it was a 45 min hike up and it was, because they stop every few minutes to rest. It was like 2 km total and our group could have done it easily in 25 minutes, but we weren't allowed to go faster. I think we did 5 short zip lines. They were really fast though. They end at the beginning of the first waterfall. There has been a drought for years so there are only 7 waterfalls avaliable. We slid down and jumped and waded through slot canyons. On the carnival website the reviews say that carnival passengers who book through the cruise line aren't allowed to cliff jump, they did jump and it wasn't a problem.
The only complaint I have is that there were hundreds of people going through, wall to wall. Even if you try to get there early to avoid the cruise ship groups, they will make you wait and put you with them anyway. The first time I did this excursion in 2018 our group was the only one we saw the entire time. We ate lunch alone too. I'm not sure if the cruise ships weren't doing this excursion back then or what?
After we hiked down a short distance, we went to the lunch buffet. Water was included, soda and beer was extra. The food was actually really good!
We had some time left over, so we asked to be taken to a fruit stand. We paid $15 usd for 2 pineapples, 5 dragon fruit and a cool looking avocado. It was so yummy and he cut up the fruit for us. Then we went back to the ship. It was a great day and Jesus and the other driver Modesto were so friendly and helpful! I highly recommend them!
