Awesome - Much better than the cruise tours. Just be sure you go to the right place to meet your driver. Go to the port entrance.

Great tour for cruisers and others - Working with Anthonyinfotours was great. They were very responsive and provided the information we needed to meet the tour guide well ahead of time. The tour guide Diomi was friendly and provided interesting information about the different areas. He also was familiar with the timeline needed since we were in port off of a cruise ship. It was raining in the morning so we went to the different stops in the city first, hoping the cloud cover over the mountain would clear up later in the day. Unfortunately that did not happen and it rained on and off into the afternoon. Since the cable car was closed for repairs and renovations at the time we went, we still took the 4x4 truck up the mountain road even though there were periods of rain. We didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked at the top of the mountain, but that was only due to the weather we had that day. Diomi got us back to the cruise port terminal with plenty of time to spare

Puerto Plata Highlights - This is a great tour that brings you to all of Puerta Plata’s main attractions. It is a great way to see the center of the city with direct hotel pick up. The truck excursion up Monte Isabel was refreshing (open air truck) and a great way to see the mountainside. The drive up is 30 minutes. The view from up top is spectacular. Fabio was our host and is amazing! He spoke Spanish, English, and French. He is a brilliant historian of the city and took very good care of the group. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see Puerto Plata in a half-day.

RECOMMEND! - We chose this tour instead of one of those offered by our cruise line because we felt it covered more area and left out some of the “shopping trips” that were so often included in the cruise tours. We were not disappointed. I would definitely recommend it. It was a small group-just a minivan so he made sure that everyone was happy and got to spend the time they wanted to at each location. He was incredibly attentive to us older people as well as the younger ones. The only disadvantage is that you cannot meet this tour until you go outside the port gates and we were a little confused as to where to go. The locals kept directing us to other areas, but all you need to do is go to the exit/entrance to the port and he was there holding a sign for us. This was more economical and a better tour than any of the cruise tours!

Can't wait to go back again. - We did this day tour as part of our cruise stop. Fabio was our tour guide. Very friendly, polite, and accommodating. He has a wealth of local knowledge that I think we would miss if we used a cruise tour. I am very happy with our experience. There is so much more to see, so I will have to rebook this when going to DR again.

Great private tour - just what we wanted - We really enjoyed our tour. Diome was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful. He’s also friendly and obviously well-respected. He seemed to know everyone we met, even guides with other tours. We chose this particular tour because we wanted to go to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres by road and not sky gondola. We also wanted to see the fortress, the umbrella street, and Paseo de Doña Blanco. Diome led us through all of those and a few more places. I particularly liked how he took us to the amber jewelry makers. I understand that we probably over-paid, but I’m okay with it because I feel more connected to the purchase and feel like I’m supporting local artisans. Because this was a private tour, we were able to go at the speed we wanted. We spent more time at the amber shop and skipped the cigar factory. To make this 5-star, I would have liked better communications ahead of the tour. We received a message about our pickup location but not time. Our ticket was for 9:00. We planned to be at the pickup location by 8:30. At 7:30, the tour company called that our tour guide had arrived. We were able to leave the ship by 7:50, so it worked out. But we could have planned to be off the ship earlier.

Not as expected - Our driver didn’t tell us anything g about our stops. Much too crowded with cruise ships. We drove up the mountain as the cable car is broke. No one told us. Terrible experience.

Very disorganized - The tour was uncoordinated and disorganized, with no clear instructions on where and when the meet up was. Our ship arrived on time at 8AM and the reported departure time of the excursion was 9AM. We were assured multiple times that our tour guide was already at the location waiting for us and holding a sign to get our attention, despite walking around the entire area multiple times. After our third call with the company we learned we would be waiting on another ships arrival and we did not leave until closer to 10. The tour was overbooked; in a minivan with 8 guests and 1 driver, two people were forced to sit on each other’s laps. Our initial starting point was Isabel De Torres mountain but when we arrived, the tour guide informed us they were overbooked and we would have to come back later. The amber and chocolate factory were mostly just a sales pitch vs anything to really see and learn. Since we had lost so much time at the start, the ending of our tour was very rushed. Diome was our tour guide and we have no complaints. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, took pictures when asked. Umbrella street and pink street were nice to walk through and Isabel De Torres was our favorite part. There is a botanical garden there which is not part of the tour due to time constraints so please be aware when booking. I would not recommend this tour to others.
