The best bday ever - It was my b'day and Pirate Ship was the best way to celebrate it!!! Thank you to all crew, who made that evening so special for me💖💖💖. Music, shows, drinks, excellent food, fire works, dances-- all I wished for my big day came true during this sailing. And, of course, beautiful Puerto Vallarta from the sea! Highly recommend this adventure to everyone, you won't regret.
Thank you all musicians, pirates and special thank you to the Chef!!!

Wonderful day on the water with family - Disclaimer we did this day pirate cruise 2.5 years ago. After attending an evening Captain Hook show in Cancun that was terrible I felt the need to go back and review this.
It was a magical day, I still remember the attention our personal pirate gave to our family, and the show was entertaining. The island we went to and the activities were well thought out. Lots of attention to details. And our 4 year old at the time won the dance contest with my husband. He still remembers the cruise and the memories will stand out in our minds. Assuming it’s the same great sailing we went on, it is well worth the money. Try to find their direct website, that’s usually the best way to save some money.
Word of warning it can get choppy, be sure to eat and take Dramamine if you get any motion sickness. Son and I were fine, my husband skipped the breakfast and got a little sea sick.

AHOY I’m a pirate now - We found this excursion originally through our hotel. It was our daughter birthday week while we were staying in PV. We booked it based on reviews.
You arrive the pirate shop at 8am. From there you walk across the street to the pier and enter what appears to be an authentic pirate ship full of pirates. This show is geared towards little but there is lots of humor and it was funny. The cruise to pirate island is a little more than an hour. During this time there are pirate dances, jokes and fights. It was lovely to set the least!
The island is really nice there is a treasure hunt for the kids and drinks for the adults. I would say we were there for about 2 hours I honestly lost track of time.
The trip back is lunch (yummy) and more pirate games. We were exhausted by the time we made it back.
The boat rocks ALOT so if you are prone to sea sickness take Dramamine. I did and did not get sick! Don’t forget cash for your personal pirate.

In Puerta Vallarta, if you dont take the pirate ship you are missing out. - Well, we have my grandson with us and got invited by a lovely lovely couple from Calgary AB to join them. From the shop check-in to every last moment, the excursion was fantastic. In our group, we had over 70 down to 2. The staff were beyond caring, committed, so wonderful, and awesome. The food was next level, really after finishing I took a fry from my grandson and cleaned my plate, it was thant good. Well done to the entire entire team.

Somewhat touristy but very fun. - We had an 8 and 4 year old and they both enjoyed it as there are almost constant activities. Two meals, pirate show (sword fighting, walking the plank, some pyro), games (dance off, guess the amount of dots, etc.), and lots of beach activities. They also really focused on the kids to make sure they had fun and felt comfortable. You are assigned a personal pirate, who also has many other jobs including being in the show, who almost constantly checks on you which is nice. It also helps the drinks are somewhat watered down as they just keep appearing. Tips to know - the boat does move so bring your sea legs and seasickness medicine if you are prone. The transfer to the beach is in smaller speedboats so be prepared to jump in the water to make it ashore. And lots of audience participation so be prepared to be a bit silly which is part of the fun.

Big disappointment - I hardly ever write a negative review, but I have to say this cruise was a huge disappointment for my family. We did the day pirate cruise, with a party of 10.
I will say the staff on board were pretty good, and did their best given the conditions. Tom in particular was great to us!
Unfortunately, there were not many other redeeming qualities. The boat is extremely cramped, and not much room to move around with little kids (we have a 3 and 5 year old). The highlight that kept our kids excited was the beach that we were supposed to visit and the treasure hunt. Unfortunately after sailing for 3 hours in a relatively dirty and packed boat, we were informed that due to the high tides we couldn’t go on the beach. This was really hard news to hear. The reason given was that the tide was too high.
Fair enough, but then my issue is that they
either:
A) knew in advance the tide would be high, as this information is readily available to anyone who sails. They then chose not to inform anyone as it very likely would mean lots of people would cancel if they knew they’d be stuck on the boat for over 6 hours;
B) they didn’t know, which is troubling as they should really be checking this info prior to sailing. At a minimum another beach could have been planned.
In the end, we were left with 2 very unhappy toddlers who were quite sick by the end, as well as
others not only in our group, but many many others onboard.
I understand that you can’t control nature. But tides are predictable and when people are paying 1000’s of dollars on the trip you should be more transparent.
