A Little Bit of Everything - WHO:
- bachelorette group
WHAT:
- Sierra Madre ATV Tour and Zipline
WHERE:
- Puerto Vallarta
WHEN:
- Friday December 6th 2024
WHY:
- daytime activity; included transportation (to and from the hotel we stayed at in Puerto Vallarta), ATV, zipline, lunch, and tequila tasting
BOOKING EXPERIENCE:
- booked through Viator but chose the "Book Now Pay Later" option, which helped since we had last minute changes to our group (who was able/willing to participate in this activity) as it got closer to the date
- going into the reservation to edit as needed (names and birth dates as well as the number of participants) was a breeze
- credit card on file was automatically charged 2 days prior to the reservation date itself
- I downloaded the Viator app and even saved our reservation/confirmation on my Apple Wallet (which ended up never being checked/scanned)
COMMUNICATION EXPERIENCE:
- after booking, the bride wanted transportation for our large group of 14 to the meetup spot
- initially I reached out to Rancho Capomo via email; received nothing a week later
- I then reached out via Viator to communicate with the vendor and received nothing either
- when I reached out via WhatsApp that's when I received an immediate response (so save yourself the trouble and communicate via WhatsApp)
TRANSPORTATION EXPERIENCE:
- Rancho Capomo had informed me of a recommended transportation service (to get our group from the hotel to the meeting spot for pickup) but there was miscommunication and the transportation service wasn't booked (my fault on my end for misunderstanding)
- I spoke on the phone with Rancho Capomo the morning of the reservation and it was rectified; they ended up picking us up directly from our hotel and brought us to and from the ranch itself (we were only charged for transportation for pickup which was $25 USD)
- the van itself is air conditioned and can fit up to 15 or 16 people; however, if you sit in the rear of the van it has a weird odor that people who sat in the middle and front did not experience; the van also has fixed windows unless you're in the front passenger seat next to the driver, so you don't have access to fresh air from the outside
RANCH EXPERIENCE:
- upon arrival at the ranch (it was an approximate 1 hour and 10-20 minute drive from our hotel in Puerto Vallarta) we all used the restrooms and were brought to the bar area for refreshments before promptly being outfitted with helmets and handkerchiefs for the ATVs
- we were all pleasantly surprised that there were horses and they grow their own agave (for their in-house tequila) as well as the fact that the ATVs (singles and doubles) were brand new
- being placed on the ATVs to start that portion of the package was a bit of a rush; we were all still somewhat struggling to adjust the helmet straps and put on our handkerchiefs when our group photos by the ranch workers were being taken
- the ATV tour took about if not over an hour and we rode through the town as well as the countryside (by neighboring farms/ranches and the local river)
- the ATV ride was VERY dusty and once we returned to the ranch we all used the restrooms again before being outfitted with our harnesses for the ziplining portion of the package
- there are lockers available but you'd have to bring your own lock; we didn't have that, but we still put our belongings in the lockers; we weren't concerned about theft since it was really just our large group and maybe 1-2 smaller groups onsite (we were all doing our activities separately; so it felt private with each portion of the package we were undergoing)
- the zipline platforms were sketchy! they were in the middle of maintenance WHILE we were going onto the platforms (be careful of splinters and rusty metal)
- portions of the zipline allow you as the participant to call it quits and head back to the bar/outdoor dining area if you so choose
- be warned that if you do ALL the ziplines, that the last 2 or 3 you have to mini hike to the next platform (I recommend hiking boots if you have them, but some standard athletic shoes are fine overall)
- I would also have liked it if the handlebars had a grip to them vs. be completely metal; I definitely wiped my clammy hands on my clothes before going on each zipline (but if you have weight lifting gloves or anything that would give you a grip, I recommend you bring that as well)
- after ziplining we went back to the locker room to return our helmets, harnesses, and handlebars before using the restrooms again and heading to the outdoor dining area to have lunch with our group
- before ziplining and during lunch we also got a chance to taste their in-house tequila - specialty flavors include almond, coffee, and pineapple
- the lunch was great! we got to see tortillas being made by hand and saw the wonderful ladies cooking up our meal; it consisted of tortillas, salsas (2 kinds), sope, chicken, beef, beans, rice, and any alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks of your choice
MISCELLANEOUS:
- I saw from booking our package that photos weren't included but available for purchase so we presumed that they would have cameras set up (like for roller coasters on a theme park) but that wasn't the case at all; all pictures and videos we got from our experience was purely by our group's personal phones

Fun, food and drinks - We had a lot of fun. ATV ride was long enough. Be sure to bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from dust being kicked up when you are behind an ATV. The dry season can get some good dust in the air. Zip line was fun with great instructions. There are some extra zip line to experience if you take a horse ride up to it. The provide a homemade lunch and drinks. All the food was tasty and the margaritas were perfect after some exposure to the sun. There are hammocks for a short siesta. The staff were friendly and most spoke English. Highly recommend this.

Rancho Capomo- Great family experience - We had a great experience at Rancho Capomo. We were a group of 5 and did 3 activities, horseback riding, zipline and ATV. My favorite was the horseback riding, nice 2 hour experience. The horses had a calm demeanor. My 12 year old was fine on his own. My family enjoyed the zipline adventure, I did the first two courses only just to say I tried it. The Atv ride was pleasant, we rode through a small town nearby. Finished up with a great meal. We were back at our hotel by 4pm. My family will always cherish this experience. Highly recommend Rancho Capomo, I arranged everything through their website and made arrangements via Whatsapp, they were quick to respond and I paid using paypal.

Amazing day outdoors - We came as a party of 10 (two families) and did all three activities: zip line, ATV and horseback riding.
Zip lining was fantastic, the view is unrivaled (you zig zag across a big river from pretty high up) and the guides were fun and efficient. I also liked it because you have to do your part too (breaking if you're coming in too fast, when signaled by the guide waiting at the end).
It was my first time going on an ATV and I had a lot of fun. We went through a real Mexican town, crossed a river and negotiated a variety of terrain.
Horses were beautiful and there's a superb waterfall at the end of the trail.
The food was excellent, the tortilla chips and salsa were the best I ever had (and I eat a lot of Mexican food).
All in all, this is a great way to spend a day there. Highly recommend!
