Highlights
  • Amphitheatre de Pula - Pula Arena is the city’s most significant monument. Built in the 1st century AD, it hosted gladiator games and is believed to have accommodated around 20,000 spectators.
  • The Twin Gates of Pula - Once a grand entrance to the city, these arches now lead to the Archaeological Museum and the castle.
  • Titov Park - Established in the 1950s, this park was one of the city’s key intersections. It remains a popular gathering spot, especially for young people in the evenings.
  • Pula Cathedral - Dating back to the 4th century, this building has been the most important place of worship since Christianity arrived in the town. Built on the remains of an ancient Roman temple, it has been expanded and rebuilt several times throughout history.
  • Kastel - Among the seven fortresses protecting the Pula archipelago, the central fortress stands in the middle of the old city and dates back to Venetian times. A short but steep climb leads to a stunning view where we can admire the sunset.
  • Forum - Located just below the central hill, this square remains the main square in the city. It was the center of city life in Roman times and continues to be the legislative and administrative hub of the city.
  • Danteov trg - This square is named after the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri.
  • Arch of the Sergii - Erected in the 1st century by the prominent Sergi family to honor their members, this notable landmark was constructed in the Corinthian style. Today, the gates and the adjacent square play a vital role in Pula’s culture, hosting numerous theatrical, musical, and other performances.
  • Gate of Hercules - Built during Roman times, the Gate of Hercules is situated between two medieval towers. Passing through these gates, we conclude our tour with a local dessert.

13 August 2020 - Would highly recommend this. The team and walking guide Sarah were lovely. Sarah know her Pula and tailor made it for us as we were fortunate enough to be my son and I. We learnt so much more about Olive oil, wine and the culture here. It was fun, Informative. Suited our pace. The tour gave us a good idea of how we would like to spend the rest of our time here. Thank you Sarah and Yan. Glad we met😀
