Experience the vibrant colors and cultural richness of Pune this Holi weekend. With clear skies and warm temperatures, it’s the perfect time to explore the city’s natural wonders and immerse yourself in the festivities.
A Vibrant Start to Holi: Exploring Pune’s Natural Wonders
As the sun rises over Pune on March 8th, the city awakens to a day filled with promise and adventure. The clear skies and warm temperatures create the perfect backdrop for a day of exploration and cultural immersion. Begin your journey with a visit to the Bhigwan Bird Safari(Bhigwan Bird Safari), a private full-day tour that promises a serene escape into nature. Departing at 6:00 AM, this tour takes you to the Kumbhargaon Bird Sanctuary, where you’ll be guided by a bird-watching expert. The sanctuary is a haven for India’s native birds, offering a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience the tranquility of the countryside.
After a morning of birdwatching, the tour continues to the historic Bhuleshwar Temple. Perched atop a hill, this 13th-century temple is a testament to India’s rich cultural heritage. The intricate carvings and serene atmosphere provide a moment of reflection and peace, a perfect complement to the vibrant energy of Holi. As you make your way back to Pune, take a moment to savor the local flavors and perhaps pick up a souvenir or two. This tour is not just about sightseeing; it’s a journey into the heart of India’s natural and cultural beauty.
“Wonderful Trip - I am not really a bird-watcher but instead just like to experience different cultures and get out of the city and into nature. The car ride is long and we stopped along the way on the side of the road for some coffee. The boat ride was great and we were able to see many species of birds, including flamingos and storks. There were not a lot of flamingos due to the time of year, so be thoughtful to that if that is the goal. After the sanctuary we went to a temple which was constructed with all hand carved stones - it was beautiful. Overall, great day - 8 hours total to and from hotel.” - Reviewed on 2019-11-10

It’s a time to let go of inhibitions and embrace the joy of the moment. As you wander through the streets, you’ll be greeted by the sounds of laughter and the sight of people covered in a rainbow of colors. The energy is infectious, and it’s impossible not to get caught up in the festivities.
For those seeking a more tranquil experience, a visit to the Lonavala Hill Station(Lonavala Hill Station) offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Available on March 8th from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, this tour takes you on a scenic journey through lush green valleys and cascading waterfalls. The breathtaking views from Tiger’s and Lion’s Points are a reminder of the beauty and majesty of nature. As you explore the ancient Karla Caves and the spiritual Ekvira Temple, you’ll find a sense of peace and connection to the past.
“Good Interesting Trip - Quite a long drive out to the temple and caves but it was still interesting and informative - Our Driver Hassan and Guide Sahib kept us totally informed and were excellent throughout the tour - The temple caves and their stone carvings are incredible to see- The Countryside is probably better seen in the monsoon season but then you would have to deal with the extremely high temperatures as well. All in all a good trip and good value made better by the very helpful Sahib and Hussain.” - Reviewed on 2025-02-26
