Uros - Amantani
Lake Titicaca - Nestled between Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the world’s highest navigable lake, offering a unique sailing experience.
Puno - Islas de los Uros - Guests will be collected from their hotel in Puno’s historic center between 06:45 and 07:00. Before boarding the motorboat to Uros Island, there will be a brief stop at the dock for purchasing snacks and bottled water. Once aboard, the guide and boat captain will introduce themselves and provide an overview of the Lake Titicaca itinerary. The first destination is the floating islands of Uros. During the journey, cattail plants can be seen growing in the lake. Upon arrival, the island chief will demonstrate how the islands are constructed with reeds and share a few words in Aymara. The locals are known for their crafts, which are available for purchase. There is an option to sail on a reed boat (15 Soles) to the main island of Uros and get a passport stamp as a keepsake. From there, the boat trip to the Taquile Islands will commence. Guests can visit the upper deck of the boat to capture photos of the floating islands.
Isla Amantani - Upon arrival at Amantani Island, local families will warmly welcome guests into their homes. A delicious lunch made with fresh, traditional ingredients from the region will be served. Later, guests can explore the island with a walk to the sacred temples of Pachatata and Pachamama, located at the highest points, offering panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and a breathtaking sunset. In the evening, a homemade dinner will be enjoyed in a cozy atmosphere, followed by an immersion into the local culture with a lively party featuring traditional music and dances, making the experience truly unique. The night will be spent in a simple family home, providing basic yet comfortable accommodations, allowing for an authentic connection with the Quechua community and their way of life.
Amantani - Taquile
Isla Amantani - In the morning, a breakfast prepared by the local hosts will be enjoyed, concluding the experience with the warmth and hospitality that defines the Amantaní community. After bidding farewell to the families, guests will begin their return journey, carrying unforgettable memories of this unique experience, where nature, Quechua culture, and an authentic connection with the island’s inhabitants will be cherished forever.
Taquile Island - Located on Lake Titicaca, Taquile Island is renowned for its vibrant craft industry, with intricate weaving done by the community’s men. Home to a Quechua population of 2,000, the island’s residents are primarily farmers, fishermen, and skilled weavers. Contrary to the traditional view of weaving as a women’s craft, in Taquile, men perform much of the delicate thread work. Visitors will be invited to watch and participate in the local villagers’ traditional dances. The journey continues with a walk to a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch, around 2:30 PM, guests will board the boat back to Puno. The boat is expected to dock at Puno Pier at approximately 4:30 PM, where guests will be met and transported back to their hotel in the city’s historic center.
