- Uros Floating Islands - After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, guests will be transported to the lake port of Puno. From there, they can choose between a speedboat or a regular boat to visit the floating islands of the Uros.
Situated 4 miles northwest of the city, the Uros are an ancient community residing on a series of man-made islands crafted from the totora plant, which thrives in the lake. These islands are created by weaving the totora where it grows densely, forming a natural layer. On this foundation, they construct their homes, also from totora, and cook outdoors to avoid potential fires.
Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with the local inhabitants, who will share their lifestyle and traditions. Over 200 families reside here.
- Taquile Island - Following this, the journey continues with a one and a half hour boat ride to Taquile Island. Unlike the other Aymara-speaking islands on the lake, Taquile is Quechua-speaking. It was once part of the Inca empire, and remnants of this culture are still visible in its structures.
Taquile is the second largest island in Lake Titicaca, covering an area of 3.4 miles. Its textiles are remarkable and have been recognized as a UNESCO heritage. The island’s highest point reaches 4,050 meters above sea level.
Afterward, guests will savor a delightful Andean lunch before returning to the port of Puno, where transportation will be ready to take them back to their hotel.
