Beautiful experience, the king penguin is spectacular - The conservation work they have done on the reserve is spectacular. The colony of penguins is growing more and more and it gives great joy to know. It is very nice to see them in a natural environment, the king penguin is beautiful. The sighting time in the reservation is 1h, but you leave the full day if you leave from home port (2 hours by boat, 2h by road) back the same.

Beautiful - The tour was perfect the agency contacted us to give informations, the driver was on time and the guide Juan very knowledgeable about the history of the place and very funny as well. We were able to eat something vegetarian for lunch and it wasn't expensive. We saw many animals on the way to the penguins and we were able to arrive home earlier than scheduled.

Unforgettable! - Fantastic experience! My family loves penguins so we were beyond excited to take this tour to the reserve. I combed through dozens of reviews and would like to address some things others viewed as negatives about the trip. My family of four includes an 8-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. Yes, the tour makes for an incredibly long day as you are picked up from your hotel before 7 a.m. and, in our case, returned at 10:30 p.m. Our kids had zero issues with this! I prepared by bringing outerwear to account for any weather we might encounter, and I packed a ton of snacks and activities for our kids. Some people mentioned that there were few food options during the tour. We found snacks and drinks available at the ferry terminal and aboard the ferry so you have the opportunity to purchase food in the morning. We found lunch to be reasonably priced and quite good, and there was the option to pay by credit card. We chose to use cash, so I can't speak to the reliability of the credit card machine but no one in our group seemed to have an issue. Our kids had a blast on the ferry, exploring all the decks and even visiting the bridge and the captain, and once we headed out on the two-hour drive to the penguins, they fell asleep. The early morning worked to our advantage! Our guide was insanely knowledgeable and did a fantastic job checking in with us and letting us know the plan for the day. He worked hard to ensure we had a wonderful experience. The penguin reserve was incredible. There is a walking trail that takes you to several viewpoints, and yes, while you have to maintain distance from the birds, they have a guide escorting you, answering questions about the colony. He had a scope to view the penguins and helped us use it to get gorgeous pictures of them on our phones. On our return, the ferry back was delayed by 1.5 hours. While I can understand that for some that would be extremely frustrating, we took it as an opportunity to explore and simply enjoy being in a new place. Our family went for a walk and played some games I had brought. I think it's all about your expectations and taking things in stride. You're on Chilean time when it comes to the ferries! Even though we got back to our hotel at 10:30, restaurants are open late so we enjoyed a great meal out. This was a fantastic experience - you just have to understand the itinerary and prepare for it. We are so grateful we didn't listen to the negative reviews. Seeing the king penguins was an experience of a lifetime!

Excellent tour with José! I would absolutely do this tour again! - José was an excellent guide - funny, personable, knowledgeable and overall very welcoming. I also appreciated that he helped take photographs of the penguins through the monocular! I would absolutely take more tours with him! It is a long day, but there’s so much to see and experience. I went on this tour for the penguins, but I also wanted to see other wildlife and learn more about the area/region. I thought this was absolutely worth the day-trip! Notes for travelers: bring binoculars, it definitely elevates the experience. I dressed in layers, and was grateful I included extra socks in my layers!

Tierra del Fuego Review! - Fantastic tour with amazing views! More than just penguin watching. Stopped for tons of Guanacos, Rheas, foxes, and sheep. The long journey was broken up well. Felt like more of a safari! Eduardo was fantastic!! Would book again!

Worth the journey! - I highly recommend the tour. It is a long day (about 14 hours) but seeing the penguins at the reserve was a wonderful experience. Our guide was fantastic and we made several other fun stops along the way. The penguin reserve is very well-managed, and they have scopes that allow you to see the penguins even closer. The lunch was fantastic - one of the best most authentic meals I had in Chile.

A far way to go but Penguins! - The penguins delivered as they always will and the other wildlife including dolphins and seals were great. Strangely liked the estancia with the wool and sheep. But it is a long day covering 700km in a van.

Book directly with the Tour Agent. - Book directly with Viento Del sur Tours Agency at +56 9 5901 7852 on WhatsApp for 80,000 CLP or $86 ish. They are nice and quick to respond. Viator seller lied to me that this tour would fill up quickly to rip me off. The tour, due to low season, was never full. The tour agent can provide a much better customer service. A good agent, in my opinion.

King penguins - It was a great adventure to the penguins in their natural habitat. We saw baby chicks too. This is the only colony of King penguins in Chile. The ride was long with limited scenery. Our guide of an English tour did not have command of the English language, so it was very frustrating at times.
