Along the way, rice, coffee, cocoa, and tropical fruit plantations will capture your attention, while the guide shares fascinating insights into Dominican culture and traditions.
- Montana Redonda - En route to Sabana de la Mar, there will be a stop in the Miches area to visit the beautiful Montana Redonda. This isolated 1,000 ft mountain, located on the northeastern Dominican Republic shoreline, offers breathtaking panoramic views for miles around. Situated in Miches, within the Municipality of the province of El Seibo, it boasts a stunning natural landscape and a magnificent 360-degree view.
- Sabana de la Mar - After leaving Montana Redonda, there will be a brief 15-20 minute stop in the village of Las Canitas for restroom breaks, smoking, or relaxation, before continuing the journey north towards Los Haitises National Park. The route passes through the town of Sabana de la Mar, overlooking Samana Bay.
- Los Haitises National Park - After about an hour, the remote Los Haitises National Park will be reached (note that after passing through Sabana de la Mar, the journey continues on a dirt road to the park). Upon arrival at the “Cano Hondo” dock, guests will board a riverboat to navigate the park’s majestic mangrove forests, home to hundreds of bird, fish, reptile, and crustacean species. Exiting the mangrove forests, the scenery opens into San Lorenzo Bay, offering photo-worthy views of the park’s lush outcroppings and the distant mountains of Samana.
After approximately 45 minutes, it’s time to return to land for cave exploration! Guests will visit “Cueva de la Linea,” a cave deeper in the forest filled with Taino pictographs and petroglyphs, providing insight into the lives of these indigenous people before Christopher Columbus’s arrival. Afterward, the boat will return to the starting point at “Cano Hondo.”

- This tour develops for a small part of the day through a dirt road, dusty and bumpy, so you have to be in good physical conditions.
