Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! It’s time to rip up the Dominican off-road and get a bit muddy!

Don’t waste your time with the “other” Buggy excursions. Macao Buggies are THE Buggy experts with the BEST off-road Route in Punta Cana.

Our awesome Route has THREE stops, now let us set the scene …

From our secluded ranch in Macao, it’s time to size up your Buggy before we tear through remote farmland. These narrow, secluded country roads offer a safe haven for deep pools of Mud. At first, you may try and avoid the filth, but soon you’ll give into the muck. Everyone does… eventually.

Macao Buggies is not for the dainty!

Stop 1: Visit a sleepy country plantation for an intro on some of the Dominican Republic’s most sought after produce: cacao, coffee, tobacco and Mamajuana (a Dominican aphrodisiac elixir) Yes, you can drink and drive here …

Back into the rocky off-road and then …

Stop 2: Descend into a picturesque cave replete with a subterranean river perfect for swimming. Jump in, cool off and wash off!

Then, the longest stretch of your drive is also the largest contrast. From the hidden countryside cave, we retrace our muddy path, and then some, to the beach! Where else would we go?

Stop 3: Take in Macao Beach. One of the last ‘resort free’ coastal stretches of Punta Cana, Macao is the idealistic Caribbean shore with amber sands, rows of coconut palms and azure waters.

CLIFF NOTES: Tear through remote farmland, Enter a quaint country ranch, Swim in the underground waters of a natural cave and Bask in the sun at Macao Beach.

What are you waiting for? Buggies are insanely popular in Punta Cana so please book as soon as possible to make sure you get one.

We’ll even wash it for you! Although if you read this far, we’re sure you don’t mind getting a bit dirty …

Birthday Celebration - It was a great time! Wanted to get a little more muddy than we did! I was cramped in the buggies so next time I would do the larger ATVs.

Buggy trip is fun and must do. - Ride was fun, could have been more adventurous. We started late as we waited for previous group to come back. The open buggy was so much fun to ride and you don't feel any bumps or bad road experience. must do trip.

Didn’t like it at all... - Didn’t like it at all The scene was very sketchy All the vendors were extremely pushy The only highlight was when we stopped at a little house and the presenter was talking about all the products. Dude was mad funny.

Be careful of the grifters - This is a slow buggie ride from one grifters location to another, there is nothing extreme about it and the buggies never go near any beaches like in the photos, you walk a quarter mile to the beach. The first stop is a commercial for the tours Mamajuana, coffee and cacao. The second grifter location is a cave with aggressive merchants at the entrance, the third stop is the beach where you have to wade through food grifters to get to the sand. The photos are extremely deceiving.

Not happy. - The prices were great from viator. The driver was nice as we were 5 min late. When we got to the place for dune buggy. I already requested for an English tour guide when I booked. We first got there and they required us to buy this and that. We did buy one thing but didn't feel we needed the other. When they explained the instructions and what was going on it was said in Spanish and then briefly in English. No body didn't tell us that when we went to the beach we wouldn't have time to eat... we order some lunch and then couldn't eat it. The tour guide told them to box it up for us. We feel we did too much stopping but that is our opinion. We got a little bit muddy but not what I have seen from other groups passing by... I would book again but with different company for the tour.. We were with fun park all adventures and not happy at all.

Nightmare - My husband, brother and Sister in law thought this sounded great. I ended up fracturing my left foot and had to leave. My brother and sister in law continued. The buggies were low to the ground, they were jerked all over and covered in mud. The cenote was man made and small. They didn't even know what it was, the trip to the beach was ok but there was too many people. They were directed to go shopping at every opportunity which got very frustrating for them. Overall, they felt it was not fun.. The individual who booked this activity said it was great, not too difficult. Great for a family. We tried 3 of the activities by this company. I would NEVER book another one Waste of time and money.. I was completely disappointed.

Save your money, go someplace else - Booked this trip for my family of 4 for 10 am. Received a message that I would be picked up at 1045 and that the time frame I booked for was “suggested” and could be changed by the tour company at any time. We arrived at the tour and it was so disorganized. We were told to just sit and wait, but when I asked someone else, we had to fill out a form. No one seemed to know what was going on. Once we finally got to the buggies, we were taken on a quick 5 minute drive, we stopped and they did a presentation on coffee and chocolate, pushing you to buy over priced cheap items. When they found out we were American, they thought they could swindle us by charging $35 for a cheap coconut string bracelet. We got back on the buggies for an hour drive to a beach. The beach was nice and warm, but riddled with people trying to get you to buy food. After about 10 min, we jumped back in the buggies and drive another hour to the cave. There were so many people that you couldn’t go down to see it, let alone jump in. We were only there for 10 min. My son ended up falling on the rocks, and scraped up his leg pretty bad walking up to the cave where we parked. We wanted to try and get a taxi back, but was told we couldn’t because there weren’t any. Our biggie also was running out of gas as we pulled back into the tour and many of the buggies ended up breaking down. The weather was pretty awful this day as well, which was fun at first because the mud, however it ended up down pouring multiple times and you couldn’t see anything in front of you. I understand that the weather cannot be controlled by the tour company, but it was not a pleasant experience. Our guide was a very nice man named Gino. Overall, the experience was not worth the money. Save it and find something else to do. We planned to be there for the four hours as noted, but was picked up at 1045 and did not get back home until 5pm!
