Buggy rides - Awesome time!! Luis was awesome for us as a tour guide . You get really muddy for the buggy! ATV is Fun too and you don’t get as muddy. Just depends on what you like. The beggers are definitely annoying but they worn you to just say no thank you! Really cool, would do again.

Everything I thought it would be! - After two somewhat disappointing tours, this one finally delivered! Felix was an incredible tour guide and did an amazing job making sure we were all together, didn’t get left behind, and had zero complaints or issues. He briefed us with a short safety meeting and laid out exactly what stops we were making through the tour and for how long. The photos they take were a bit pricy, but loved the quality of them! His recommendations for what to bring and how to avoid pushy vendors was spot on and I’d recommend this to everyone! Unfortunately for us, it started pouring really hard, but not the companies fault at all! We still had a blast. Be ready to get SUPER muddy, it’s impossible not too! Wear lots of sunblock and water shoes, and bring a waterproof case for your phone and cash. Leave everything else in their cubby holes and don’t forget a dry towel for when you get back to the starting point. Finally a great excursion!!

Some dirty fun - This was overall a fun activity. Kitson was a fun guide. Our only complaint is the first stop at the cave. We were expecting a cenote like cave like we had done similarly in Mexico but this was just a very dark uninviting scary looking cave that no one had interest in going in. I’d say they should just remove this spot altogether. Otherwise it was fun lots of driving and sooo much mud! They have an outside shower situation where you can rinse off afterwards.

Buggy experience - Transportation was a bit late and I eventually had to reach out after waiting 30 minutes in our hotel lobby. Felix was an amazing tour guide, he gave us a run down of what to expect (pressuring vendors and the stops along the way). He and a mechanic with us definitely made sure that we all kept together. Our buggy did malfunction twice and we couldn’t accelerate, but the mechanic fixed the issue and kept us going the right way to catch up with others. The coffee/rum/chocolate experience was just them talking briefly about the products and then had vendors that you can purchase souvenirs and cigars from. The cenote and Macao beach were absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth the experience to go once. Buggy riding was also fun to get dirty! Definitely bring sunglasses/bandanas to make sure the mud doesn’t get in your face. All in all it was a good experience to go to once!

Very fun but come prepared - My friends and I overall had a really fun time on the dune buggy tour. Our pickup time for our 12pm booking was at 10:30 am, which we felt was unnecessarily early. On the way there, the driver stopped the bus and demanded that we all have clean towels so that on the ride back, the seats on the bus would not get wet or dirty. He dropped us off at shops to buy the towels, which were insanely overpriced ($40+ each). The whole situation felt like a ploy to separate us from our money. Bring towels!!! We then had to wait around 40+ min at the excursion site, apparently because another group we were going with was late. Whatever, no big deal. The dune ride itself is a lot of fun, but know you will get covered in mud and dirt. Bring your own bandana to cover your face; I'm sure they overcharge you on that if you forget one. A couple of the buggies broke down during the trip, but they were very quick to get us on another buggy, so I appreciated that part. Throughout the excursion, you will be faced with people in the area trying to haggle you for trinkets and other touristy items. It really puts a damper on things when you're trying to have fun with your friends but people keep aggressivley coming up to you and won't leave you alone. To be fair, the excursion staff warned us about this ahead of time. But it was still frustrating to continue to have to deal with. The coffee/chocolate tasting was fine, but I wish they would have done that at the very beginning of the tour. It was placed in the middle, so we were all covered in mud and weren't really concentrating on the chocolate but rather on how gross we all were. The cenote was a bit small, and only a few of us decided to swim in it. I would have loved to have had more time at the beach! We were allotted only 20 minutes or so, which was quite short. I would have preferred to cut the cenote from the itinerary to spend more time at the beach. When the excursion was over, they provided showers for us to clean off. They had very low water pressure, but it worked well enough till we were able to return back to our accommodation. However, they really try to force you to purchase photos from the trip. This is likely their main way they can make money. The photos they provide are pretty high quality, but do not accept the first offer that they make. They will try to oversell you by a mile and will be quite aggressive about it. Be confident in your negotiations and decide what amount you're comfortable with before saying yes to what they propose. Overall, we had a really fun time, but I think the trip could be simplified a bit more. If they tone down all the aggressive haggling, I would have given it a higher rating.

Nope. Don’t. - This was the closest thing to a scam I’ve been on without actually being defrauded. First of all, they didn’t pick us up at the right time - said they’d be there at 11am and turned up at 10:30am. They left without waiting for us and we had to reschedule for a later time. At that point, they refused to pick us up at the lobby of our hotel and had us go to the main gate of our resort. They were 15 min late, funnily enough. Horrible trip there in a rickety old truck without any sort of safety. We reach the place after 40 min (!!) and they basically tell us we should be wearing safety goggles and a bandana but they’re not providing them, you need to buy them separately (we already paid $60 each for this, bear that in mind). Immediately they tell us we’re not going to the beach because the path isn’t good enough to traverse with the buggies (they offer 0 alternatives). They then dump us in an absolutely disgusting buggy, older than balls and with dingy, broken seatbelts, and give 0 explanation as to how it works. They then take you, at an annoyingly boring speed because you’re in a caravan of 20 other buggies, to a souvenir shop where they ‘ambush’ you to buy coffee, chocolate and others, and after that to a ‘cenote’ where you’re meant to go swimming. Well, good luck with that, because the cave is dark and absolutely doesn’t invite any swimming. Certainly none of our group jumped into that dark hole. Also the place is crawling with people trying to sell you stuff and getting quite handsy and aggressive when you say you don’t want to. After that, they take you back to where the tour starts. Barely any time to drive the buggy for fun, but they make sure to drag you into the muddiest areas to ensure you’re absolutely covered in dirt and other crap by the time you get back. Took me hours to wash everything off, and am surprised I didn’t catch something as the ‘mud’ went into my eyes and mouth. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend, save your money.
