Setting Sail on the Gulf of Nicoya

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I found myself boarding a boat in Puntarenas, ready to embark on a day of adventure through the Gulf of Nicoya. The anticipation was palpable, and the promise of encountering dolphins and possibly even humpback whales had me buzzing with excitement. As a seasoned surfer, I’ve spent countless hours in the ocean, but there’s something uniquely thrilling about exploring the waters from a different perspective.

Our journey began with a safety briefing, and soon we were cruising through the azure waters, the powerful engines of our boat cutting through the waves with ease. The crew was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing insights about the local marine life and the various islands we passed. It wasn’t long before we were greeted by a pod of bottlenose dolphins, their sleek bodies gliding effortlessly alongside us. It was a magical moment, one that reminded me of the simple joys of being connected to the ocean.

Discovering Tortuga Island
