Book this tour! - We had a great morning with Samanta at Oro Verde Reserve. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about birds, and was incredible at calling and spotting them for us to see. She was well equipped with several pairs of binoculars as a well as a spotting scope and tripod. We saw more birds on this tour than others we have taken, and enjoyed it so much that we tried to book again a few days later for additional family members. The tour finishes with breakfast on a deck overlooking the ocean. The tour lasts a little over three hours and is not a difficult walk for most people. It's a good value, and a lasting experience.

A great way to see birds and learn about the area - My husband is an avid bird watcher, and both of us enjoyed walking through Oro Verde with the owner and spotting birds. We had a pair of binoculars, but were provided with better binoculars. The walk is not too difficult, and we saw loads of birds. Including macaws, hawks, hummingbirds, and parrots, among many many others. My favorite was a little bird nicknamed the Susie bird that came in response to our guide’s whistle and puffed up each time it whistled back. A very knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about birdwatching, and also about the history of the area. I loved seeing the sugarcane press, and also meeting our guide’s family, and listening to Samantha play guitar. A bonus was the excellent breakfast. It was a wonderful way to spend the morning.

Amazing! - This tour was wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. Our hike was not too hard but a little muddy because it is the rainy season. The day was very pleasant. Saw a variety of birds, including a family of toucans! We were provided good binoculars and she even carried a telescope that she connected to a phone for photos that she shared with us. Breakfast with her mother was very natural and the coffee was very good. Ours was flavored with the cane syrup made on their own property. We give this tour two big thumbs up.

Unique and memorable experience - Samantha is a wonderful birder and guide.. If you are able to get a hike with her, we encourage you to do so. We have been on many nature hikes/tours in Costa Rica. This stands out as one of the best because of the way she personalized the experience. We walked a property with a variety of habitats and trails and saw many species. Then she took us to her house nearby where we ate a home cooked breakfast and enjoyed a beautiful view. She even serenaded us on guitar with a lovely song she had composed herself. For us, this was a unique and memorable experience….the frosting on the cake!

She gave us all not only views of multiple stunning birds, but also lots of information on them. We were able to get some amazing photos, and to top it off, we were able to enjoy some delightful food and music afterwards. I couldn't recommend more!!

Great birding tour at Oro Verde - This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Samantha was an excellent guide, very skilled at finding and identifying the birds we saw as we toured her family’s property. The 3 hour birding tour was followed up with a wonderful traditional Costa Rican breakfast, and Samantha playing Costa Rican folk songs on her guitar, how can you beat that?

So much More than Bird Watching! - Samantha far exceeded our expectations!!!she was incredibly knowledgeable about the local bird, spotting them in dense forest and doing bird calls. We are new to learning about birding and she was patient with our questions and explained things well. She also was very knowledgeable about plants, which is a love of mine and was a super bonus. We saw many species of birds that we wouldn't have without her good eye. Her mother made an excellent traditional Gallo pinto and coffee while Samantha suprised us with yet another excellent skill, singing and playing a song she wrote on the guitar while we ate. The view from their kitchen was wide open from the mountains looking at the Marino Ballena, Whale Tail. This was a gift to my partner and we loved it. Thank you Samantha!!!

Birds watching incredible tour - Sami knows everything about birds! She's very helpful. Breakfast at the family house was so nice and delicious. Sami played the guitar and sang while we were eating. The view of the whale tail from the house is breathtaking. A must do

Bird Watching for all levels of birders - great way to see the beauty and nature - Small, intimate bird watching tour with a fantastic daughter/father team. We saw 32 species of birds in 3 hours in both an open setting and in the jungle. Sam and her father were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and eager to find as many birds as possible using bird calls, bird sound machines, bird apps, etc. They have a sighting scope for up close viewing of the beautiful colors of the birds. Their ability to spot the birds in the dense jungle was amazing. Bird watching was followed by a delicious Costa Rican breakfast prepared in their home with stunning views of the ocean. It was very personal and special. One of the highlights of our trip to Uvita.
