Wonderful guides, so patient and problem solving! - My mom and I booked this and we were inexperienced and unbalanced on the boat and struggling. The nice guide tethered (towed) us to the bioluminescent area, gave us great information and opportunities to see the glowing bioluminescence. He suggested we switch positions on the kayak and give it another go and *voila*! It fixed all of our problems and we were able to kayak all the way back on our own. They were so patient and helpful with us and made sure everyone in the group got their questions answers and got to spend time in the water playing with it. It was so interesting and would suggest it to anyone. Great view of the stars on a clear night too! Just make sure you tell them if you aren’t experienced. Wear water shoes. I would suggest a swimsuit.

Great Time - Alexander has a very cool kayak tour. Lots to see in the dark. He also went above and beyond helping us get food reservations and a cake arranged for my sister’s birthday.

Magical Bioluminescent Kayak Tour in Costa Rica - This tour was absolutely magical! Paddling through the serene waters under a starlit sky, we witnessed the mesmerizing glow of bioluminescence—tiny sparks of light dancing with every movement of our kayaks. It truly felt like being part of a dream. The guides made the experience even better. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly passionate about sharing this natural wonder with us. Their storytelling and detailed explanations of the phenomenon added so much depth to the tour. Whether you're a nature lover or just looking for a unique adventure, this kayak tour is a must-do in Costa Rica. It’s an unforgettable experience that perfectly captures the beauty and magic of this incredible country.

Very cool experience - This was a very cool experience. The only thing we would have changed would be to go at a later tour time so it was darker sooner.

Amazing w/ some room for improvement - This was an amazing experience! But, it was not perfect, hence the 4 stars. First, we had a little trouble finding accurate info on where to meet our guide. While it's easy to find the ferry they are next to, the rest was not clear. There was no on land instruction or overview given at all as we were hustled off to the kayaks. We were given life jackets and paddles and divided up into double kayaks. I had to stop them to request a dry bag, but was happily offered one once I asked. We were kept together as a small group and felt safe. I will say that everyone in my family had water and kayak experience though. Paddling and watching the water flash a glorious bright blue when the paddle splashed was pretty amazing. When we were led to a small beach to get out of the kayaks for some wading around it was frustrating that no one had checked that the water was clear of any large obstacles. I tripped on a rock and scraped a large area of my calf and shin on an even bigger rock in the water, which did not feel great, especially in salt water. But I was really determined to put it aside to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience, so I tried to tough it out. The guides gave a brief talk about the science of bioluminescence and we were all awe struck by the blue glow and it was like swimming among the stars. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Overall it was a great experience. I do think it would be wise to add a brief 5 minute on-land overview and to have someone go out and check the route before the evening tours for obstacles or anything else that could be unsafe once it's dark. Clear instructions on where to meet would also be great.

Impressive but un informative - The bioluminescence themselves are really worth seeing and the fireflies in the air are beautiful, but I wouldn’t recommend our guide, he rarely spoke throughout the entire tour and when he did you could barely hear him, I would look for another guide next time
