Nacional Wildlife Refuge Romelia - For those eager to enhance their surfing skills on Costa Rica’s warm, uncrowded waves and experience an adventure to remember, our group surf lessons for five are ideal. Nestled in the southern region of the Nicoya Peninsula, Montezuma and Cabuya are quaint fishing villages by the beach, encircled by protected lands and national parks. Our shores are secluded and reserved for the limited number of guests we welcome each year, making it an optimal spot for novice and intermediate surfers.
On your inaugural surf day, we’ll guide you to Playa Grande, the prime beach break (with a sandy bottom) for learners and those at an intermediate level in our vicinity. We’ll convene at the ice cream parlor in Montezuma and embark on a scenic 30-minute hike by the sea, passing through several national parks en route to Playa Grande, which is situated between two national parks.
Upon arrival, we’ll evaluate your surfing prowess and tailor a program to match your abilities. Typically, the first session includes both a theoretical overview and hands-on practice.
For intermediate surfers, we often head to Cabuya, where we have a selection of point breaks. There, we focus on mastering the art of paddling out, seizing waves before they break, and positioning correctly on the wave’s face.

In this Five group Surfing Lessons with us, you will have the chance to experience the authentic surfing lifestyle we have here in Costa Rica. With a personal assessment and surf design program by our head surf coach Guillermo Cilintano, with more than sixteen years of teaching surfing experience in the area, you will have the chance to take your surfing to the next level in small groups of max 3 participants per surf instructor to maximize: safety and personal coach assistance. we are one of the few surf companies with our own bodega at playa grande with more than 25 different surfboards, so we don’t need to carry to the beach, and also we have other surf shack next to the surf brakes in Cabuya.
The scenery and atmosphere in the beach is amazing full of wild life, with people from all around the world and locals giving the lessons make o good mix of people and nature to have a great time!
