- Isla Tortuga - We will start our day from Playa ‘Los Órganos’ in Paquera at 9am to 2.30pm or 12pm to 4pm, with a pleasant boat ride of approximately 20 minutes. On the way to Tortuga Island, you will enjoy the beautiful coast along with some marine life. We will pass Playa Quesera, then going with the boat through the hole in the rock called Arco Iris. After this we will go to the group of Islands called Morteros for snorkeling. The volcanic rock reef is surrounded by crystal clear waters and is famous for the large number of goldfish and some corals. On the Pacific coast of Costa Rica there are not many hard corals, but many fish and shellfish that keep their attention. You can see, for example, angelfish, porcupine, morays, needle fish, spotted eagle rays and many more tropical beauties that will make it a great snorkeling experience.
Changing the snorkeling mask for the sunglasses again, we go to the island itself, where we will visit Playa Tropical, where you can enjoy a swim in the warm waters, stroll along the sugary white sand beach, walk along the path to the top of the island or relax in the shade of a palm tree swaying. Here we will serve you some fresh fruits and drinks.

As my tour is in a small groups, I’ll give you a local experience and I’m able to make slight changes of how we spent the day regarding duration of snorkling, beach time ect. of course if the whole group agrees.

A good choice if you want to spend the day in the Tortuga Island area - Juan and his brother survive to have a great time, the snack was juicy very rich. Fresh and very good fruit
Water and soft drinks without limit. All right.
The small boat is enough to cover the distance to the islands.
The choice of boarding site is perfect for going quickly and back.
The choice of beach site, far from where the big catamarans stop

Wonderful trip to Isla Tortuga - We were on a full day tour to Isla Tortuga with Luis, Borgiman and Jonathan! Booked at Montezuma Tours in the village center .. it was beautiful and super recommended! Luis told us a lot about Costa Rica and its history, Borgiman cooked us a wonderful meal and Jonathan took us there and back well! We saw many fish and even humpback whales super close on the way back! Definitely worth a trip ... thank you Borgiman, Jonathan and Luis!

Amazing Experience! - Our tour with El Gecko started from the ferry ride from Puntarenas. The location was easy to find with Google Maps, and located on a beautiful beach where you could park and enjoy before and after the tour.
Juan and his crew were fantastic. Language was an issue as we spoke no Spanish and they spoke little English, but they were very patient with us and we made do! We had a beautiful tour of the area by boat, and then stopped around a rocky outcropping to snorkel. In the area there were many other tour groups, but we were a good distance away from them and it wasn’t an issue. The water was murky, but there was still a lot to see. One of the guides even came out with us for a bit and ensured we saw lots. In addition to the schools of fish, we saw sea urchins, a starfish, and a blowfish. And when my husband mentioned an interest in another type of sea creature, they went out of their way to show us where they could be found.
We passed a larger, more public beach, but after the snorkeling, Juan brought us to a private beach which was a paradise. While they prepared the lunch, my daughter lied on the beach and my son explored the rocks while my husband and I took a long walk. It was quite simply amazing. Lunch was delicious!
At the end of the tour, we stayed at the first beach for a bit while we played in the waves. All in all it was an amazing experience and I highly recommend El Gecko!

Perfect day trip! - Such a perfect experience! Juan was so friendly and helpful, and we all had so much fun :) it was absolutely magical to see the crystal clear waters and get to see some fun fish (and starfish!) while snorkeling. The smaller beach that we went to was definitely better than the bigger one that other tours go to, but we were able to swim back and forth for a bit of adventure (he also offered to drop us off over there via boat). So grateful that we got to spend the day there - and it was so convenient from Paquera! Thank you!!

Awesome time! - My family and I had a blast! Our guide Juan was friendly and informative. We had a private tour which was lovely. Isla Tortuga is absolutely beautiful! We had the section of the island to ourselves and it was perfect!
We were provided sandwiches and fresh fruit and beverages. We saw iguanas and a baby boar. Sadly no monkeys this trip but it was likely due to time of day. Regardless, the tour was a ton of fun!

Perfect for a relaxing and quiet day on Tortuga - My husband and I took this tour as we read other reviews that said they take you to a quieter beach, not to the main busy beach on Tortuga. We wanted a quieter day and they gave us just that, we almost had the whole beach to ourselves and it was beautiful. We snorkeled first around the main rock where all snorkeling tours were and then headed to the beach for swimming, snacks, lunch, and relaxing. Even just in the waters off the beach we saw lots of fish while we swam. We really enjoyed this tour, especially for the price. There were only 8 of us on the whole tour, whereas some of the other boats we passed were packed with 20 or so people. We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting a more low key, quiet, relaxing and less busy experience on Tortuga!

Positive experience overall. - I was disappointed in the snorkeling. So few fish, however seeing the baby boar who hung out with us for quite a while was a wonderful experience!

The best snorkelling and Island tour in the area! - This was a brilliant tour company. Much smaller than other trips we saw. The boat was plenty big enough (10people on our trip). X2 snoring site (NB the snoring areas are busy with loads of boats in small areas suitable for snorkelling. Plenty of fish to see. Water visibility on day we went was not great, but still managed to see loads of beautiful fish.
Picnic lunch on the Isla was lovely. Delicious sandwich and freshly prepared fruit. We were dropped off on the quieter beach (playa Tropical) rather than the busy main beach, which was great.
Guides were helpful and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend.

I cannot recommend... - The Good: Captain and crew were very nice. They made us sandwiches and cut up fruit. We stopped to see a humpback whale and its baby.
The Bad: Snorkelling during rainy season was a waste of time and I suspect it is even during dry season. There was nothing to look at. We had a much better experience snorkeling in Puerto Viejo during rain season. If you've ever snorkeled in Hawaii or Mexico, this snorkelling tour is a complete joke.
The Ugly: The part of the island we went to (specifically designated for this tour) was filled with garbage along the beach. It was so sad. They took us to another part of the island which was just filled with drunk Americans. On the way back, the captain took us out to basically the open sea in the little boat with a storm rolling in. It was completely unsafe. I've been around boats my whole life and this is the most worried I've been in the water.

Isla de Tortuga snorkeling - The crew was fantastic! Captain and guide were very accommodating. The outboard motor quit for about an hour and the two spots we went to were very choppy-not optimal for snorkeling. Being on the beach for lunch was nice. We were provided with abundant fresh fruit in a shady spot.
