The tour also includes a boat ride on the Tarcoles River, where you can spot crocodiles, monkeys, and a variety of bird species. As one reviewer noted on March 14, 2024:
Great tour! - One of the best tours I have ever taken!! Ariel is an amazing guide! He answered all of our questions and provided a very informative narration while traveling to a location. While at each attraction, he pointed out many bird and tree species. Our driver, Angel, was the most engaged driver I have ever had. He pointed out points of interest and helped locate macaws and toucans. He found alternative route when a road was closed to show us a known macaw location. Highly recommend this tour!!
With the rain providing a soothing backdrop, this tour is a perfect way to experience the natural wonders of Puntarenas.
Rainforest Adventures: Skywalk and River Cruise
For those who crave a bit more adventure, the Rainforest Skywalk & River Cruise offers a thrilling experience in the heart of the rainforest. This excursion takes you on a 1.5-mile stroll through the Villa Lapas Sky Way, featuring hanging bridges that elevate you above the forest floor. As you walk through this lush ecosystem, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that calls this place home.
After your skywalk, enjoy a refreshing snack of exotic fruits and iced tea before heading to the Tarcoles River for an eco-cruise. Here, you’ll have the chance to see one of the largest wild populations of crocodiles in the world, along with a variety of waterfowl and monkeys. A review from May 26, 2024, captures the essence of this experience:
Awesome crocodiles - Our day in Costa Rica with Greenway was nothing short of amazing. We spent the morning on a short trek exploring the rain forest and the hanging bridges, we didn’t see many animals or birds but did see a dart frog. After we went to the Tarcoles River to see the crocodiles which were awesome. Unfortunately the heavy rain meant the tour of Puntarenas was cancelled.
Despite the rain, this tour offers a unique perspective on the natural beauty of Puntarenas, making it a must-do for any nature enthusiast.
Savoring the Flavors of Puntarenas
No trip to Puntarenas would be complete without indulging in the local cuisine. The rain provides the perfect excuse to duck into a cozy restaurant and savor the unique flavors of Costa Rica. After a day of exploring, head to El Jardin Souvenir Store & Restaurant, included in the Puntarenas Essential Tour, where you can enjoy a delicious meal while browsing for souvenirs.
The high humidity and warm temperatures make the local dishes even more satisfying, as the rich flavors and spices warm you from the inside out. Whether you’re enjoying a traditional casado or sampling fresh seafood, the culinary delights of Puntarenas are sure to leave a lasting impression.
As the weekend comes to a close, take a moment to reflect on the unique experiences and memories you’ve made in Puntarenas. The rain may have been a constant companion, but it only added to the charm and allure of this beautiful coastal city. Until next time, embrace the rain and let it guide you to new adventures.
