- Cafetería el Algarrobo - Embark on a tour designed to immerse you in the local culture.
We’ll start at the historic chapel, where we’ll delve into the 10,000-year history of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, right up to the present day.
By exploring history, we’ll uncover the roots of the Spanish language in today’s culture, the blend of Catholic faith with Andean traditions, and more. Next, we’ll visit the outskirts of the cemetery to learn about the modern-day celebration of ancestors, a practice that archaeology shows has been around for millennia.
In the serene outskirts of the town, we’ll walk approximately 800 meters, soaking in the silence and natural sounds. You might find yourself gazing at a starry sky, learning about Pachamama, Apachetas, Coquena, and the deep respect the indigenous people have for nature.
We won’t discuss constellations or astronomy, nor will we conduct ceremonies or light fires. Our focus will be on sharing and interpreting Andean beliefs alongside Catholicism.
