Highlights
  • Seri Wawasan Bridge, Putrajaya - The first stop is one of seven bridges in Putrajaya, which is the most elegant. The 240m cable bridge features a futuristic design borrowing the shape of a sailing ship. The Seri Wawasan Bridge is visible from many vantage points of the city.
  • Putrajaya Lake - The Putrajaya Lake is a lake located at the centre of Putrajaya, Malaysia. This 650 hectares man-made lake is designed to act as a natural cooling system for the city and also for recreation, fishing, water sports and water transport.
  • Putra Mosque - Rose-tinted granite gives the Putra Mosque its iconic pink hue, an elegance that reflects as remarkably on the inside as it does on the outside. Built by the lake in 1997, the mosque can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers. Visitors would stop by for photographs with this sophisticated landmark, which drew inspiration from Malay and Middle Eastern influences.
  • Perdana Putra - This imposing building stands atop the main hill in Putrajaya, catching eyes with its palatial-style green dome and stone walls. Featuring a blend of Islamic and modern architecture, the office complex is where ministers and higher officials work. It is not open to visitors, but you can still admire its grandeur from the outside.
  • Kelab Tasik Putrajaya - One of the best ways to see the city’s sights is by taking a 45 minute daytime or evening sightseeing cruise on a comfortable air-conditioned 76 seater cruise boat. Gondola-style boat rides are also available.
  • Seri Perdana - Seri Perdana is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, located in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
  • Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin (Masjid Besi) - The Iron Mosque (or Tunku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque) is another architectural wonder worth checking out. Constructed primarily from steel, “wire mesh” architecture draws inspiration from Chinese and German designs. Unlike other mosques in Malaysia, there is no minaret which is used to call for prayers. From afar, it looks like it is made of metal or glass.
  • Millennium Monument - Designed in 2005 to usher in the new millennium, this is the first monument to be built in Putrajaya. The walkway twirling around the monument illustrates the history of Malaysia, the panels describing significant events in the country. There is a time capsule at the base of the monument which will be opened in 2020. As you move up along the ramps of the Millennium Monument, you can see sweeping views of the waterfront.
  • 172, Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah - Istana Melawati is the second national palace of Malaysia’s Yang di-Pertuan Agong in Putrajaya after the Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur. It serves as a royal retreat for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
  • Moroccan Pavilion Putrajaya - The Moroccan Pavilion deserves five stars for Instaworthiness, if such a rating exists. Built to symbolise the diplomatic ties between the two governments, the stunning architecture and delicate craftsmanship bear resemblance to the villages and imperial cities of Morocco.

Additional Information

Situated as the administrative hub of Malaysia, Putrajaya not only hosts government offices but also attracts tourists with its impressive architecture and scenic views.

Putrajaya, located south of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, is renowned for its modern architecture that was prominently established in the late 20th century. A prominent landmark of the city is the Putra Mosque, constructed with rose-hued granite and adorned with a pink dome. In its vicinity stands the grand Perdana Putra, encasing the office complex of the Prime Minister, under its green dome. The Putra Bridge, with its three tiers reflecting the influence of Iranian architecture and its four minaret-like piers standing tall over the man-made Putrajaya Lake, is another marvel of the city.

Fabulous tour! - Lovely day out to Putrajaya, away from the bustle and hustle of KL. Many interesting stops along the way. The tour guide/driver (Nagen - Riyas travel) was very friendly, flexible, and knowledgeable. You never felt rushed!

Good half day tour! - Our driver Nagen picked us up at our hotel on time. He was polite and well mannered. The car was clean. As the tour states there is NO tour guide only a driver. Nagen drove us to the 2 mosques in Putrajaya the Millennium Mosque and the Pink Granite Mosque, which was stunning, and to a few other places in the Putrajaya area. He explained a little bit about the area. The tour took approx 3 and a half hours. There was no river boats tours on the day we went as it was Ramadan and they were not operating. This tour is worth doing if you have a spare day in KL or if you want to see something different.

When it rains…. - despite the severe thunderstorm we encountered, our driver managed to continue the tour. We thought we would have a guide but only a driver who gave us information about the sites. Good tour if you are new to malaysia and want to see some landmarks

We recommend this tour - Our trip to Putrajaya was good. It was booked through TripAdvisor. We didn’t have a tour guide but we did have Arie, a driver who spoke some English. His Malaysian Perodua was comfortable enough. He was on time, friendly and helpful. He could understand our wishes and he was flexible and followed them. We went to each of the tour stops that we wanted to. There was an orchid festival on Putrajaya and so we were unable to go to the Putrajaya Seafood Restaurant for lunch as we had planned. Arie took us to an outdoor area with food stalls for lunch called Selera Laman Perdana and it was just fine. For RM 7 we had chicken and meat satay with a delicious peanut sauce, a cucumber salad and sticky rice. Then we had a dessert recommended by the table next to ours. We spent US$74 for the tour and we were happy.

A nice tour, but wrong agent - We visited the Pink Mosque and the Millennium Tower, after we took a lake boat cruise from where the Pink Mosque looks picturesque, and we ended the tour at the Iron Mosque which has a modern and stylist architecture. The tour had the possibility to choose as departure time at 7.30, so we chose that time and arrived in Putra at 8, having nothing to do as the mosques and the lake tour opened at 10. We spent 2 hours only visiting the Millennium Tower and as the time reached 10 o’clock we followed the program of visits. The total tour duration was 2-2,30 hours, so the agency called us asking us to pay more, as we were out of time. He was very unpolite and arrogant, saying us that we should be back earlier. In that case we couldn’t pay a visit to the Mosques and we couldn’t have the lake tour and we had a look outside the Mosques and lake only. The Viator should stop cooperating with this agent as they don’t follow the program. Why at least they have the early time of visits ,as it’s impossible to visit these places at that time? I suppose because they want to earn more money cheating us.

Visit various sites in Putrajaya but no tour guide. - The tour does not include a tour guide, just a driver who brings you to the sites themselves. The driver arrived on time to my hotel, but I was not impressed with the car- an average vehicle, not exceptionally clean, and the driver stopped for gas during the trip. The driver brought me to all of the attractions, but left me at each to browse and wander on my own, with little direction, where to go. I went inside the Pink Mosque and did receive a nice overview from one of the tour guides inside the mosque. There is no food/water included on this tour, which you can buy on the way at various stops. Not too much walking, but you will have stops for photos at various locations.
