Polonyna Borzhava is a mountain range in the Ukrainian Carpathians, known for its extensive woodless mountain meadows in Transcarpathia, stretching about 50 km. The range is predominantly covered with grass and bilberry bushes, giving its slopes a distinctive velvety look, making it a popular spot for berry picking from July to September.
Velykyy Verkh, meaning “Big Peak” in Ukrainian, is one of the mountains in the Borzhava Range, standing at 1,598 meters above sea level. The summit offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire range, which stretches from southeast to northwest like a massive bow. Velykyy Verkh, along with the nearby Hymba Mountain, is a prime location for paragliding in the Carpathians.
Play Mountain is another peak in the Borzhava Range, reaching 1,330 meters above sea level. At its summit, there is a television transmitter and an operational meteorological station.
Shypit Waterfall is one of the most popular and picturesque waterfalls in the Ukrainian Carpathians, featuring five cascades and a height of 14 meters. It is easily accessible, which can lead to crowds during peak season. The site is also renowned for hosting an informal alternative music festival every June.
