Historical biblical site - Excellent experience as a Christian to see the place where John had his vision. The hiking trail to it is also beautiful with beautiful views over the chora of Patmos

A good guide makes the difference - Our guide - Vera (I hope I did not misspell her name) made it ! Her presentations, in both the museum of the monastery and in the cave were a mix of a professor of history and religion, a philosopher and an actress! At least for me, she was the best guide I ever had (and I am a senior and professor at a university). Congratulations!

Amazing experience - highly recommend - Simply amazing experience being inside the cave where St John wrote the Book of Revelation, seeing the place where he lived till he died and the rock standing 'desk' where said the vision to his disciple (scribe). Make sure you carry cash because tickets to the cave nor the monastery are included in the tour tickets which is disappointing as we were led to believe when ordering the tour.

Not enough stars to rate this excursion! - Ozan was an amazing guide! With extra time, he took us to a Turkish Carpet Weaving operation where we were treated as royalty and enjoyed a tradition lunch on the lawn (not street food), a carpet explanation and show complete with tea service and a demonstration of the silk cocoon being made into thread. This was in addition to the wonderful sites of Eohesus and St Mary's house.

A very good tour with very minor issues - Patmos is a very, very interesting Island to visit with the St. John Cave and the monastery. Caroline - our guide - was really good and told u’s a lot of interesting things. To bad that the tour sometimes enere up in a shouting competition. I guess, that better planning netween the guides could eliminate that problem. Also its a bit annoying that guests couldn’t keep quiet and kept taking photos although it wasn’t allowed. But all in all a very good tour 😊

Boat day trip from Izmir to Samos - Nice island, but the economy is poor with quite some shops closed. Partly probably due end of season. Very nice (fish) restaurant at lion square ref Samos 831 right hand on the corner. Looks simple but food is excellent. Only locals.

Good guide when we... - Good guide when we eventually found where we were meant to be. No Viator representative at Patmos, we were just herded onto a bus. It would have been easier and cheaper to take a taxi. Hidden extra costs at monastery and cave - which was the whole point of the visit.
