• The Egyptian Museum in Cairo - Your tour begins with a pickup from your hotel by a guide. The Egyptian Museum is the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East and boasts the largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities in the world. Its extensive collection ranges from the Predynastic Period to the Greco-Roman Era.

The building’s architect was chosen through an international competition in 1895, the first of its kind, and was won by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. The museum was inaugurated in 1902 by Khedive Abbas Helmy II and has since become a historic landmark in downtown Cairo, housing some of the world’s most magnificent ancient masterpieces.

Khufu Statue: This statue represents King Khufu (known to the Greeks as Cheops), the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Ironically, this small, 7.5-cm-tall statuette is the only confirmed contemporary three-dimensional representation of this king. When it was first discovered, the head was missing.

• Mosque of Muhammad Ali - Next, you will be transferred to The Citadel of Sultan Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi (Saladin), one of the most iconic monuments in Islamic Cairo and among the most impressive defensive fortresses from the Middle Ages. Its strategic location on the Muqattam Hills provided a formidable defensive position and offers, as it still does today, an unrestricted panoramic view of Cairo.

Sultan Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi was the first to order the construction of a fortress over the Muqattam Hills in 1176 AD (572 AH), but it was not completed during his lifetime. This was achieved during the reign of Sultan al-Kamel ibn al-Adel in 1207 AD (604 AH), who decided to reside in it, making it the official residence of the rulers of Egypt. In the mid-nineteenth century, Khedive Ismail moved the official residence to Abdeen Palace in downtown Cairo. The Citadel has witnessed some of the most significant events in Egyptian history from its construction to the end of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty.

• Bazar Khan El-Khalili - Khan el-Khalili is a renowned bazaar and souq in the historic center of Cairo, Egypt. Established as a trade center during the Mamluk era and named after one of its historic caravanserais, the bazaar district has become one of Cairo’s main attractions for both tourists and Egyptians. It is also home to many Egyptian artisans and workshops producing traditional crafts and souvenirs. The name Khan el-Khalili originally referred to a single building in the area; today, it refers to the entire shopping district. The site of Khan el-Khalili in Fatimid times (10th-12th centuries) was originally founded in 969 CE as the capital for the Fatimid Caliphate, an empire that then covered much of North Africa and parts of the Levant and the Hijaz. Jawhar Al-Siqilli, the general who conquered Egypt for the Fatimids, was ordered to construct a great palace complex.
