Dendara 1/2 Day Trip - We travelled to Dendara temple on our trip to Luxor. The tour guide Mubarak did a great job. He initially gave very informative info about the hieroglyphics on the walls and columns in the temples. We wanted him to get to the point without all the additional information and make it fun to enjoy the day. He completed his tour as requested. The driver was Mustafa. Thanks Mubarak and Mustafa for the tour!. It felt like I was in the movie Tokyo Drift. The guide was a fantastic photographer

Abydos and Dendera temples from Luxor - Khaled the guide and Ahmed the driver offer to us a unique experience in the Marvelous temples of Abydos and Dendera. They prick up as at the Luxor reception in early morning and after 3 hours drive through the western desert in total air conditioned confort our professional driver bring us to this unique place in the human history that was perfectly explained in the highlight by our knowledgeable guide. I’m looking forward to returning discovery the Egyptian antiquities with Ahmed and Khaled.

Worthwhile - I was advised by my guide in Cairo not to miss Abydos and Dendera whilst staying in Luxor.
Having never used Viator before, I chose this trip because of a positive review about a certain guide. This was not the guide we ended up with, but our guide, Khaled, was punctual, polite and personable. He escorted us to a very swish, comfortable car to take us on our long journey to Abydos on an extremely hot day.
The drive to Abydos is, apparently, better than it was due to the opening of a new highway. This enabled our driver to speed along at a sometimes nerve wracking pace (considering the stray dogs who meander onto the road as they please) but he got us to the temple in air conditioned comfort.
I knew it was less frequented than the easier to reach sites but I was astonished to see that there was only a handful of people there on our arrival, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. After guiding us through the temple and explaining the highlights, Khaled sat and chatted with my mum while I had another look around and took the obligatory photos.
We were then driven to Dendera, stopping at a little stall in Abydos on the way, where our driver bought some little Egyptian bananas for us to try (a thoughtful touch on Khaled's part).
Dendera is an impressive temple because of how well the colours have been preserved, and it was interesting to see a temple dedicated to Hathor.
Again, after showing us around, Khaled found a shady spot for him and mum to wait for me to have another look and take more photos.
On our arrival in Luxor we were taken to a perfume shop to smell papyrus scent, where Khaled left us with the guy from the shop. We felt under pressure to buy something, so my mum made what felt like an obligatory purchase (the second of our trip, as often happens with guided tours).
Khaled then asked if there was anywhere else we'd like to go or anything we needed before returning us to our hotel. I asked to call at a shop to buy some crisps. Our driver then bought them on my behalf so I wouldn't be charged the tourist price. A very kind gesture.
This is a good value day trip and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Abydos and Dendera whilst staying in Luxor.

Wonderful trip - I have a wonderful time with Barry , he is kind and a very good story teller. He speaks very good English so you can easily understand all the stories from the. temple. He is also very knowledgeable, and you will learn a lot for sure. So I highly recommend Barry , and you will be surely have a great time with him !

Trip to Dandara - Thanks to Reflections travel for organising the tour to Dendera.Very reasonable for the price. The guide Barre was an informative and very genial man. He doesn’t make you feel that you’re at school with all the facts about the Egyptian history. He delivers his “talk” with a good amount of friendly banter. He wants to look after you. I would highly recommend him as your guide.

Dendera and Abydos - For my taste, they were one of the best preserved temples, although with a fairly considerable distance from the rest of the points of interest. The service I hired helped me a lot and gave me security (I was alone) to get to the two areas of the temples. The bad thing was that they have a not very pleasant attitude when the tip you give them is not what they expected.

The day could have been so much better - This was a trip we were really looking forward to.
It was a long drive from Luxor, and the guide chatted a bit on the way but not a great deal.
I had visited both temples before without a guide, so was excited.
We were rushed round Abydos and the guide was not happy when we spotted bats and wanted to watch them. He was also a little annoyed that we wanted to take photos.
Dendera is my favourite temple, but this was rushed and we were not show the main things of the zodiac on the ceiling nor did we go into the Crypt.
Very disappointing especially as these trips were not cheap.
The most worrying thing was the driver. He drove in excess of 90 miles per hour, on roads not fit for this speed and slammed his breaks on at every speed bump. The majority of the journey he was on his mobile phone, well actually he had two mobiles and these were more important than the road.
We had a puncture that needed to be fixed.
The driver was extremely annoyed by the road checks to the extent that he argued with a police officer, rang someone who argued with the police officer and both were put in their place. These checks keep visitors safe but this driver was not keen on this or our safety just get us there and back as quickly as possible.
Luckily we took water with us as we were only offered one bottle and no opportunity to get food.
Both temples are beautiful but next time I will do what I did the first time, agree a price with a taxi driver to take me and let the residents Egyptian curators show me the beautiful bits in the temple.
When we finally arrived back at our hotel, we paid the guide for our tickets and gave him a tip to share with the driver, which to be honest he was not too grateful with.
Beautiful temples, the guide was OK but could have done a lot more to make the day special and the driver was dangerous.
