A Journey into the Heart of Aboriginal Culture

After the art class, we made our way to the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, the gateway to the ancient Daintree rainforest. As we arrived, we were welcomed with a traditional smoking ceremony, a ritual that cleanses and wards off bad spirits. This was a powerful moment, as the smoke swirled around us, and I felt a profound sense of peace and connection to the land.

The interpretive walk through the rainforest was a highlight of the tour. Guided by an Aboriginal guide, we learned about the ancient ‘highways’ that crisscross the region, used by the Kuku Yalanji people for thousands of years.
