- Kawarau Suspension Bridge - Leaving Queenstown, we head north through the picturesque Kawarau Gorge, passing stunning views, the Kawarau Suspension Bridge, and the renowned Roaring Meg Lookout. If time and light allow, we’ll stop for the first great photo opportunity of the tour.
- Cromwell - After exiting the Kawarau Gorge, we enter Cromwell, known for its fruit and wine production. We pass vast vineyards, cross Lake Dunstan, and follow this striking lake towards Lindis Pass.
- Lindis Pass - As we ascend in altitude, Lindis Pass offers breathtaking views down the valley. One of only three alpine roads through the otherwise impassable Southern Alps, we stop at the Lindis Pass lookout, 971 meters above sea level, for a must-have photo.
- Omarama - Driving through the expansive plains of the Mackenzie district, we’ll spot several celebrated Merino sheep before stopping in the charming township of Omarama. Here, we have time for a break or to try what we believe is the best creamy chicken pie in New Zealand!
- Lake Pukaki - Heading west, we enter Aoraki National Park, and Lake Pukaki comes into view. This is one of the bluest lakes you’ll ever see, beautifully framed by Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. We’ll stop for incredible photos and to take in the stunning scenery. It’s easy to see why many Lord of the Rings scenes were filmed nearby, and we’ll point them out to you.
- Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Te Wahipounamu) - In the national park, you have 3 hours of free time to enjoy walks, hikes, or optional activities. Our recommendations include the Hooker Valley hike, a scenic 3-hour walk considered one of New Zealand’s most beautiful, scenic flights to see the region from the air and land on the Tasman Glacier, or Heli Hikes. Whatever you choose, we’ll ensure you’re well taken care of and provide transportation as needed.
- Lake Tekapo - Bidding farewell to Mt Cook, we head to Lake Tekapo. This turquoise blue lake is globally renowned for its pristine beauty. We have a short time here, enough to capture Instagram-worthy photos, explore the Church of the Good Shepherd, and see the Mackenzie dog before heading towards Christchurch.
- Christchurch - Upon arrival in Christchurch, your guides will highlight any points of interest as we travel to the drop-off locations.
