Great trip - Great guide In a comfortable bus. Learned a lot about the Mayans. It rained so they cancelled the lagoon swim. So sad! They gave bottled water but no lunch.

We had a great day on our... - We had a great day on our excursion. We started off with about. 40 minute drive to the Mayan ruins, on the way got some interesting information about the community and culture from our guide, Allen, once we got to the ruins we had a short amount of time to shop at the gift shops and then about an hour or so in the park with a guide learning about the Mayan culture and life. We didn’t make it to the originally planned stop at the 7 color lagoon due to the clarity of the water from recent storms, but where they took us was equally as nice. We had a delicious lunch and some time for swimming and kayaking. On the way back to the port we stopped for some fresh pineapple that was so delicious. Overall a great day for everyone in our party of 10, ranging from teens to seniors.

Fun Informative Tour and Bacalar Lagoon lunch, drinks, and swimming! - David was our guide for the Mayan Chacchoben tour - he's an experienced Mayan archeological tour operator and was happy to answer any questions. The whole tour company including David and his two compatriots - one who drove us getting to the ruins and to the Bacalar Lagoon and back to the cruise port safely and on time. The other young man was very knowledgeable about the Costa Maya area and gave us a nice introduction about the area on the way to the Mayan temple site. Each conducted themselves with the utmost professionalism and were very friendly. Our tour had I believe 10 people plus our three guides. We spent about 1.5 hours at the Mayan temple area, about 2 hours driving from the cruise port to Chacchoben, then 1.5 hours at the Bacalar Lagoon for a delicious meal of street tacos and up to two complimentary drinks plus unlimited sodas etc. The Lagoon water was extremely beautiful even on a cloudy day - apparently on a sunny day there are 7 different blue colors that can be seen. It was warm and comfortable for swimming so we paddled sit-on-top kayaks and swam after eating and drinking.

Fun family time! - We had a great time, Erick was so knowledgeable of a tour guide. The ruins were so cool and the kayaking was really fun. I only wish we'd had more time to relax by the water afterwards and that the water had been blue, but all the recent rain made the lagoon green. Would do it again!!

The number of ruins surprised - I rate the Chacchoben Ruins as a must see. We went expecting to see just one ruin but there are at least 7 that we saw. Rosy, our guide gave us a great history of the Mayan people and their culture on the drive out and at the ruins. While the wet season meant we did not see the Bacalar lagoon at its best it was still a pleasant stop for a swim and lunch of tacos and beer and cocktails.

Great sight seeing. Not great water fun. - Guide was great. Very courteous, helpful and informative. The ruins were interesting. The lagoon wasn't great. Don't go here if you want to experience any snorkeling. The wait for beverages was way too long. Though the tacos were good, more variety in food would be great.

Arrive earlier than suggested - Our tour guide Edder was amazing and very knowledgeable. He gave us a great tour! The resort at 7 colors lagoon left more to be desired given the cost of this tour. The biggest issue was the tour says it starts 1 hour after the cruise ship arrives. Our cruise ship arrived at 8:30. We arrived at the tours office at 9:25 and the van had already left. We had to use a taxi to catch up to the tour van down the road. We weren’t the only people from our ship that this happened to.
