Fantastic! - Amazing experience! Pepe was a fantastic guide! He was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. It was wonderful to be able to see through his eyes and gain a deeper appreciation of the natural formations and the part they play in history. There was also a short Mayan ceremony/blessing before we went in that was really cool to hear. The buffet lunch at the end was also tasty!

Great experience - The tour was fantastic from start to finish. We got picked up at our hotel in a lovely air conditioned vehicle. Drop off was quick and we got organised into our group very quickly. Plenty of sizes for wet suits, life jackets, and shoes. Our tour guide was Milo’s. He did a great job of switching between Spanish and English and keeping the group engaged. The tour itself was great fun and a must do for your time in Mexico.

Ship your, very organized. Great Cave. - This was booked through the cruise line. Very well organized. You take a ferry to the main land. We boarded the ferry directly from the ship. We then road in a tour van to the secret river. Our tour guide on the ferry and van were Addy (spelling may be off) she had a partner whose name I cannot remember. They took great care of us. Our tour guide in the cave was Ricardo. They provided walking sticks, helmets, life jacket, wetsuit , water shoes and a locker. All was well organized. My DH and I are in are low 70’s we did need some assistance in the cave and water. Ricado and his camera man were awesome and provide a hand where needed. We also had some great fellow passengers who all worked together along with Ricardo. Surface of the caves in spots were uneven, sometimes you needed to navigate over some rocks..I think for the most part it was not hard, When you get in your 70’s you get a little nervous with your balance. We walk and go to the gym so I would say we are fit for our age. I personally loved the water we floated in. The caves were great! After the tour lunch was provided. A tour bus picked us up and took us to the shopping area where we had an hour to shop. The guides stayed in the shopping area, and then walked with us back to the ship. Very well organized and all the tour guides were great.

Rio Secreto Experience! - What an amazing experience! Jorge (Aka George of the Jungle) was a great tour guide! He explained everything kept us entertained and brought us into a gorgeous cave system. Highly recommend this experience and it’s one of the top ten National Geographic destinations in the world. If you are down in Cancun or the Riveria Maya you have to come and enjoy the experience! Ask for George of the Jungle and you will have a great time!!!

Unmissable experience - We took the Rio Secreto Plus tour and it was one of the best experiences of our lives. The place is unique, indescribable, but what made the experience especially magical was the way our guide, Imelda, led the tour, explaining about the caves and the river, from Mayan history to the origin of each formation, all slowly and patiently. (considering our basic level of Spanish), and especially with a lot of love and respect for that place and what she was presenting to us. The environment is extremely well preserved, and the preservation of the cave and river structures was a concern constantly conveyed and explained by the guide. We had unique moments at Rio Secreto, which will remain in our memories forever, and we are especially grateful to Imelda for providing us with such a unique and beautiful experience. Everyone who has the opportunity should visit Rio Secreto. In fact, there is a negative point to be considered, which is the price of the photos. They are very expensive, and we end up being forced to buy them to have the memories. But the experience is so incredible that it's still worth keeping the 5 star review. And I saw some bad reviews about the lunch, but everyone in our group of 6 friends really liked the food.

Highlight of our trip! - It was an incredible excursion! Manny explained everything so much that we felt extremely protective of this fantastic place. We look forward to visiting again (and going to a different part of the Secret River)

Highly recommend - Highly recommend. My wife and kids (8 and 10) were in awe. This is an experience you can’t get anywhere else. I’m really glad we decided to do this activity. I’ve been in caves in the US, but in the US, you can’t get up close and personal like this. Also, the guides were excellent - Gaby was great! The lunch buffet was actually really good. I’m used to pretty crummy ones. There was fresh fruit, chicken for tacos, pasta, rice, bean, rice pudding and homemade corn tacos. I saw a lot of complaints about the cost of the photos. It is indeed $120USD for all or $30USD each. This is pretty typical pricing for this sort of thing. If you’ve ever done the dolphin encounter, it is pretty similar pricing - if not cheaper. Except at the dolphin encounter the photographer is just standing there snapping pictures. Here, the photographer has to suit up and traverse the caves with you while running ahead to capture pictures as people come along.

A bit of a wait and mixup at check in but overall great - We ended up waiting 1 hour at Rio Secreto in order to be taken on the Plus tour. We didn't realize the wait would be so long. Be forewarned you may nerd to wait a bit before your tour. We were also originally handed the blue "regular" tour bracelets instead of the black "plus" tour bracelets. We had to inform staff of the mixup, so be sure to confirm which bracelets you get when they put it on you. As part of the plus package I don't believe we ever had an hour long light and sound show - no idea what this was referring to. Rio Secreto and the cave tour itself (~1.5 hrs) was fantastic. Our guide Diana was also fantastic. Would highly recommend her. Buffet was fairly small but good (it was only available at the very end of all activities - they offered us a banana approx half way through. You also can have a Small tortilla with salsa after the nature walk). I would definitely encourage people to bring extra water. They do have small water cups available throughout but we were very thirsty! Walking / swimming through the caves was absolutely amazing. You cannot take pictures or your phone into the cave (instead you can pay for photos afterwards). A lot of people complain about this but just see it as an opportunity to live in the moment
