Discover the amazing Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a treasured haven in Quintana Roo. This tropical paradise, established on the Caribbean shoreline, was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. Explore the largest nature sanctuary in Yucatan, abundant with spring waters from cenotes, Mayan canals, manatees, dolphins, coral reefs, enormous beaches fringed with coconut palms hosting turtle nesting sites. Revel in a scenic display of nature during your boat journey, where you can get a close look at beautiful dolphins and turtles that come near the boat without hesitation, as well as an array of birds in the mangroves such as pelicans, frigates, ibis, herons, and osprey. Facing Sian Ka’an is the Great Mayan Reef, home to hundreds of colorfully diverse fish species. As it’s a nature reserve, it should be noted that sightings of animals are not assured.
