Unforgettable Cotopaxi Adventure! - This Cotopaxi trip was one of the highlights of our time in Ecuador! Our day began with a quick meetup at the hotel, followed by a short drive to a local spot for breakfast. The guide, Alejandro, was amazing - he shared fascinating insights about Cotopaxi on the drive. Breakfast was not included for us but was only $5 USD per person. They also had hats and gloves available for purchase! Next, we visited a museum that provided background on Cotopaxi and the effects of climate change on the glacier, which is expected to disappear in the next 20-25 years. After a quick bathroom stop (25 cents per person) we drove another few minutes to start the hike. The hike itself was challenging due to the altitude, which we were definitely not used to being from Toronto, and the cold, which we definitely were used to! The stunning views were completely worth it and we even saw an Andean fox! I highly recommend bringing snacks and candy for energy, we also had coca tea from the restaurant which helped with the altitude a lot. At the base camp, there was a chance to buy tea and snacks (small bills and cash only). The bathrooms didn’t have toilet paper or running water, so be prepared! After base camp was another 10-minute hike to a lookout point with panoramic views of Cotopaxi, then we descended and hopped on a bus for a downhill bike ride. The ride was bumpy and downhill at first, but it flattened out, and the weather warmed up. The clear skies gave us perfect views of the volcano, and we even saw some wild horses along the way! The day wrapped up with a delicious lunch (included), featuring soup and empanadas for us vegetarians/vegans. We were even surprised with a chance to feed llamas and ducks! You can also shop for souvenirs — llama hats and gloves for $5 each. Alejandro was a fantastic guide — knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. He made the whole experience enjoyable and memorable. If you are in Ecuador and enjoy an active trip you definitely have to add this one to your list!

Cotopaxi and biking ( in hail) - We had a fabulous time today . Lincoln very thoughtfully picked us up from our hotel. We chatted for the 2 hours in the car - Lincoln is very knowledgeable. I was listening as I crocheted!! He has a great sense of humour - made the whole day with him fab. Cotopaxi is the highest we have ever trekked. We were so pleased to beat the thunder and get to the top in 45 mins. We are quite mature in age so super chuffed. Getting down in 10 mins was a doddle. We were thrilled to see a condor and get a picture with its ‘fingers’ clearly visible. The bike ride down to the lagoon was hilarious. Hail battered us and the volcanic road became very sticky and interesting to steer in. Lincoln thoughtfully captured our adventures and sent us pictures which have impressed our families.

Cotopaxi Volcano Tour -Oct 24 - I did the one day Carpedm Adventures Ecuador with bikes. One word for it... Great. There were only 6 on the tour - mixed UK, Auz and German...and the guide Alex was fantastic.- friendly, helpful and supportive - great english. We drove from Quito to the Cotopaxi, where Akex gave us an overview of Ecuadorian history and cultures in the region, morning tea, then stopped ar a small museum where Alex explained about Cotopaxi volcano (one of the 3 highest in the world ar 5800m to crater), the wildlife and fauna in the area. We then drove up the mountain to 4000m and then walked to the refuge ar 4800m...hard work with the thin air, but Alex took the walk in small chunks and we all made it...hot choclate and tough walk back down to bus....onto the bikes (you don't have to bike) but its a bumpy experience for about half an hour to lake Limpiopumgo where we saw wild horses and native birds.... then great lunch (included), feeding llamas and home. A mention to the driver also who manoeuvred the bus expertly up those mountain roads....I would highly recommend this tour....I crashed out in the hotel....thanks again to Alex.

Would recommend! Felipe was awesome!! - Felipe was great!! So informative and helpful! Was able to answer all extra questions. Was on time, in schedule. It was a bit chilly with extra wind for the hike to base camp. Loved the surprise at the end at the restaurant! 😉

Great adventure day on the Cotopaxi - Alejandro explained a lot to us and led us safely at 5000 m. The downhill ride on the dirt track and the final meal rounded off the day wonderfully. Great guide, great experience. 🤩
