The Basilica stretches 140 meters in length, with two towers reaching 115 meters, making it the tallest neo-Gothic church in South America. It features 24 side chapels dedicated to Ecuador’s provinces. Like many large Gothic churches, the Basilica is shaped like a Latin cross, with the central nave serving as the main body. It has seven entrance doors, three on the facades and four on the sides. There is an underground crypt and a solemn pantheon where several presidents of the republic are interred.
