Additional Information

Triglav is a much-revered emblem of Slovenia, emblazoned on our flag and cherished in our hearts. It stands majestically in our only national park, Triglav National Park. The mountain underscores our Slovenian passion for mountaineering and is also revered as a Slavic deity in our ancient pagan traditions.

This peak see the highest number of climbers in our nation. However, the ascent is challenging; thus, it is advisable to retain the services of a skilled mountain guide.

The climb allows you to behold the expansive Slovenian landscape below, allowing you to appreciate the country’s petite size in contrast to the larger view, since you can also spot our coastline.

The expedition spans two days with an 8-hour trek each day. If your preference is a leisurely journey where you can savor each moment, this is the perfect trip for you.

  • A good hiking shoes. If you don’t have them you can rent them at the office, only please specify your shoe size in advance.
  • Warm hiking clothes (Wind proof jacket and a fleece). Triglav’s altitude is 2,864 m so you should dress accordingly. If it is hot in the valley does not mean it is hot in the mountains. There could be even snow.
  • Sun protection: sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Trekking poles are not necessary but recommended. You can also rent them at the office.
  • Enough water. 1, 5 l of water should suffice. There will be wells on the way where you can refill your bottle. You can buy water in the hut as well.
  • A Snack. You will start to crave a lot of sugar after one whole day of hiking.
  • A backpack to put everything in.
  • Money for mountain hut and food

incredible family 2 day walk / climb - so safe and professional - As a family of 5 we did this walk in mid August, lead by Clara. Kids ranged from 10- 15 years. Stayed over night in the hostel and went up Triglav early on the second day, then returning to the start point at the end of the valley. . The guiding was just incredible, real attention to detail and safety. Its a tiring two days but it is so incredibly worthwhile. The sense of wow at the top of Triglav is indescribible. Incredible family 2 day walk / climb - so safe and professional. There was a huge priority emphasis on safety and enjoying the trip. It's definitely not easy but with these folks you are Ian very safe hands.

Brilliant way to experience Slovenia's heights - We had two wonderful guides - Nastja who took us up to the Kredarica mountain hut, and Matevz who then took us to the top and back down again. Both were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us feel like we were in tremendously safe hands, and allowed us to just enjoy the mountains. All the logistics were sorted and straightforward, and they adapted the timings to make sure we got the best weather and the best experience. Thanks both for this amazing experience!

Safe and fun climb of Slovenia’s highest peak - Brilliant experience with Klara and Matevž. I joined a small group (just 3 others) as a solo traveler. The others were all very friendly, spoke great English (sorry for my lack of Flemish, French or Slovenian) and were a pleasure to climb with. The hike and the climb itself were easier than expected and I felt in safe hands at all times. Lots of time to relax at Kredarica hut. Very well organised.

Best Tour Company Ever!!! - My boyfriend, Cole, and I booked three tours with this outstanding company. We did the rafting, canyoning, and 2 day climb of Mount Triglav. Each tour these guys went above and beyond for us. They are some of the hardest working people we have met! They were exceptional, kind, and genuine people that we enjoyed hanging out with. We did an introduction to canyoning with Timo and Andraz, and we had a great time. If you have never done canyoning we highly recommend giving it a try. They have great equipment that is in very good condition for you to use, and the guides will make sure you stay safe while you are with them. Rafting was a fun day on the river, beautiful scenery and the rafting guides were also fun people. Climbing Mount Triglav was also an amazing experience. Matevž was our guide for the journey to the summit, and he was great. We started in the KRMA valley early in the morning, and as we hiked through the forest we were very lucky and able to see local wildlife in its natural habitat to include a Chamois and several Marmots. Matevž stories and jokes kept our minds off of our burning thighs as we ascended the mountain, and he made sure to set a good, reasonable pace that was good for us. When we started the Via Ferrata portion to the summit, Matevž helped us with our gear and made sure that we remained safe for the climb to the summit. He is a very accomplished climber and an excellent mountain guide who holds top certifications, and we would strongly recommend going with him if you are not an experienced mountaineer. The views from the top of Slovenia are breathtaking. We stayed the night in the “mountain hut” (mountain hotel is a better description, the accommodation and food were excellent for the top of a mountain!). The next morning Andraz met us as we finished our breakfast and guided us back down the mountain. He is a very cool and nice person and also a very accomplished mountain athlete, who shared a lot of his knowledge with us as we made our way down the mountain and back to the car. We saw three more Chamois and several bird species, and a fox in the forest. We cannot recommend Altitude Activities and their crew highly enough. They are a great company made up of great people. Jerry runs the show from the office and is a very nice guy, and good manager. We had to change some of our itinerary around unexpectedly and Jerry made sure we were still able to have a good time, it was seamless and easy. And he has the best 4 legged office assistant, Bella! Finally, tip your guides. They earn and deserve it! 😄

Amazing Triglav one-day hike - Booked an impromptu hike up Triglav with Altitude Activities and absolutely loved it! Total duration of the hike was 14h including breaks, covering 1,900m in altitude difference and 20km in distance. Not for the faint-hearted, physically demanding but worth every meter! Matt, my guide, was fantastic. Highly experienced, funny, witty and smart - always looking out for me and ensuring we would make it up and down the mountain safely. He’s also a very talented photographer and took amazing photos throughout the tour. The Altitude team was also very responsive via email and answered all my questions quickly and in great detail. The view at the summit was breath-taking! It’s something one has to experience and see with one’s own eyes. Book your tour now I’d say. 😊

You can't go wrong with Altitude Activities - I joined a 2-day trip to Triglav in September. Although there are some scary parts along the way to the top, I felt very safe thanks to Altitude Activities team. It was such a pleasant hike with you guys. Keep up the good work, you are doing really great! I would definitely recommend Altitude Activities to those who would like to conquer Triglav. Oh and be prepared to receive tons of cool photos of yourselves after the tour.

Breathtaking trip with fantastic guide! - This was our first time to do a via ferrata, so we wanted to be safe and see if this would be something for us. Our guide Matt was super fun to be with and also a great help on the "tricky" parts. He really knew what he was doing and was very alert during the entire trip. We felt safe at all times and fell in love with being in the mountains. The experience of sleeping in a hut was also really nice. Great atmosphere! We feel homesick already... Will absolutely do something like this again.

Great challenge! - Did Triglav in one day (couldnt find that option in tripadvisor) and had a great time with the group I was paired with and the guide Mat. I was considering going by myself but when I reached the ropes part I realised it was too advanced to do alone and I was grateful for Mat's guidance. Would recommend for any experience mountain climbers looking for a challenge!
