Super interesting black history tour (give it a try) - Me and my family went on this trip. We were visiting North Carolina and looked into history tours and thought that this one would be a cool and special twist. It certainly delivered. I never knew much about black history in North Carolina and this tour made me feel a little ignorant (in a good way) by sharing all sorts of super interesting information I never new. This tour focused on a time period (Reconstruction and Jim Crow) that I had not learned about since school. My wife and I loved it because we have never learned much about black history so learning about Raleigh's african american doctors professors and businessmen and shaw university was so so fascinating. the sites were very interesting, though sadly some have not been super well maintained. but I found myself fascinated and wanting to learn more. The guide was really nice and polite even as we gave him so so many questions and he always had some kind of answer that was insightful. he said he's working on a book about this topic and I can totally see it because he held himself like someone who had dedicated a ton of time and research to the tour. I would whole heartedly recommend this to anyone whether you think your interested in black history or not. I didn't think I was until I took this tour and I left feeling way more knowledgeable about the city.
