Highlights
  • Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts - The meet-up location to start the tour will be the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, situated on the edge of the city, making it an ideal starting and ending point. This building is a prime example of Greek and Roman architectural revival and hosts the symphony and off-Broadway performances. I will also provide my introduction to the tour before this stop.

  • City of Raleigh Museum - The next part of the tour takes us down historic Fayetteville St., home to some of the oldest buildings in Raleigh, such as the Briggs Hardware Building, now the Raleigh City Museum. I will highlight the significance this street has had on the city’s rejuvenation. A total of 9.3 million dollars was invested in these four blocks, and it was worth every penny!

  • CAM Raleigh - CAM (Contemporary Art Museum) will be one of many stops in this part of the tour in Raleigh’s trendy Warehouse District. Red brick industrial buildings have been transformed into loft apartments, galleries, and breweries, making it one of the fastest-growing areas in the city.

  • North Carolina State Capitol - The Capitol is one of Raleigh’s most historic buildings with a unique history. We will also visit the Legislative Building, which serves as the current capitol. Adjacent to these buildings is the Raleigh Science Museum, currently rated the #1 attraction in the city, another stop on this part of the tour.

  • North Carolina Executive Mansion - This portion of the tour will take us down the beautiful Blount St., home to some of the state’s largest and most exceptional Victorian homes. The Governor’s Mansion is an example of Queen Anne-style architecture. The construction of this building has a surprising history that I will share with you.

  • City Market - City Market is a major attraction located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Tourists and locals alike enjoy the open-air shopping and dining options that line the charming cobblestone streets. The newly renovated Moore Square Park, recently updated after a two-year project, will also be part of this portion of the tour. Get a glimpse of Raleigh’s culture as you join the locals at one of their favorite gathering spots.
