Too beautiful to capture in words or photos. You'll want to go again! - A great way to get your feet wet with Icelandic hiking. We had been in craters and inside a volcano, and this was the time to climb the opposite direction towards the sky! Guna was a fantastic guide who kept close watch over the group and shared a lot of information about the area with us. My travel mates are capable hikers, but visiting Iceland for the first time and not familiar with Landmannalaugar, having a guided group for our first excursion here was worth it. The hike isn't terribly technical, but it's moderately long and does scale a mountain, so anyone doing this should be in good health. The hike is paid off with breathtaking views of the painted mountains, largest obsidian field in Iceland, and surrounding landscapes.

Amazing experience with tour guide Vjeran! - One of the best experiences I had in Iceland. Our tour guide Vjeran, deep lover of his motherland and her beauties, delivered a totally mystifying experience and provided all possible safety and time to enjoy the hike and the landscape.

Beautiful and challenging experience - The hike and guide were amazing. The trip to the site on the F-roads was very uncomfortable, would probably be a lot better in a passenger van instead of a bus. Once we got there, the 90 mins of discomfort was well worth it. My pictures will not do it justice. Our guide was amazing (think Joanna, but probably butchering her name.) The hike was moderately difficult in a few areas, 2 strenuous climbs and one difficult descent. Even with those few pieces, I think most people could do this. Make sure to have shoes with a good grip and layers (warm in august when shielded by the mountains and windy and chilly at the peak). Our guide brought extra hiking poles for any that needed. It was a long day, but well worth it! Not overcrowded like many of the experiences.

Wonderful day hike! - The views here are spectacular and our guide Mariano was excellent, offering fun interesting facts! Dress warm for the wind, especially at the tops of the mountains. The drive was a bit under 4 hours from Reykjavík, with beautiful scenery along the way! 10/10 would do again.

Great Tour Guide, Super Long & Tiring Tour, Frustrating Customer Service, and Useless Hot Spring - This tour had its pros and cons, ultimately leading to a 3-star rating. Friday, September 6 2024. Pros: Amazing Tour: The sights and activities were fantastic. The hiking was manageable, and the overall experience was enjoyable. Excellent Guide: The tour guide was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and passionate about her job. She even went the extra mile by dropping me off first at my request to make a dinner reservation. Cons: Long Day: Be prepared for a long excursion, starting at 7 am and finishing around 9 pm. No Pre-Tour Support: Customer service with Artic Adventure was practically non-existent. My questions sent through Viator regarding the tour received very slow or no replies. In comparison, previous tours with Troll Expedition had prompt communication. Additional Notes: Motion Sickness: Beware that it takes almost 4 hours to get to the destination. 1 hour with some uneven roads so if you have motion sickness, please prepare accordingly. Bring Food: The tour includes a stop at a supermarket to allow for lunch or dinner purchases. This is important as there may not be other options readily available. Hot spring: The hot spring is not for everyone (80% of the attendees did not even bother with going to the hot spring). While enjoyable for some, it may not be appealing to everyone. For those who aren't interested in the hot spring, spending 1.5 hours there could feel like wasted time. Perhaps an alternative option, like visiting the Valley of Tears, could be offered for those who prefer to skip the hot spring. Overall: While the tour itself was fantastic thanks to the guide, the lack of communication from Artic Adventure before the trip was frustrating. Consider this review if you're comfortable with a long day and the potential for a slow response from customer service. If the hot spring isn't your thing, you might want to explore tours with alternative options during that timeframe.

Crammed into huts by Arctic Adventurers - Artic adventures crams travellers into unsanitary huts—one location had two people sharing a bottom bunk and two on top—total of 32 people in a very small space—no hot water at the huts, cereal for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch—hardly enough to sustain a long hike and forget about sleeping. People got sick and they sent them on a bus to figure it out. No safety or tourism standards followed by Artic adventures or Iceland in these huts —bus broke down on the way there and three buses to get back to Reykjavik—get it together Artic Adventures—you should refund travelers, misleading advertising on the hiking tours
