• Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway - This tour features the Norbeck Overlook, offering stunning views of Mount Rushmore and Black Elk Peak. It’s an ideal spot to watch the sunset and enjoy stargazing, with countless stars, constellations, and even galaxies visible.

• Iron Mountain Road - On the return journey, travel along Iron Mountain Road with its unique pigtail bridges and breathtaking views through one-way tunnels that perfectly frame the illuminated national monument. There will be stops for photo opportunities.

• Mount Rushmore National Memorial - The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is an impressive sculpture carved into the granite of Mount Rushmore in South Dakota’s Black Hills. Completed in 1941 under the guidance of Gutzon Borglum and his son Lincoln, the sculpture features 60-foot-tall granite faces of U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The site also includes a museum with interactive exhibits. At sunset, rangers present a program honoring veterans, featuring a patriotic film and the illumination of the mountain.

*The Night Ceremony at Mt. Rushmore is available only from MAY 26TH to AUGUST 10TH, starting at 9 PM, and from AUGUST 11TH to SEPTEMBER 30TH, starting at 8 PM.

Black Hills Open-Top-Tours is the sole tour company offering a Mt. Rushmore tour that features the Night Lighting Ceremony, a tour of the Iron Mountain Tunnels, and night stargazing (weather permitting).

The tours are conducted in a range of classic, unique convertible top vehicles, including ‘Woody’ Vans, specialized Jeep Gladiators, or a Mercedes Glass-Top Sprinter van. All vehicles are comfortable and safe, providing excellent elevated views and photo opportunities without the need to exit.

This 5-hour tour departs from Rapid City between 5:30 and 7:00 PM, depending on the time of sunset.
