A Journey Back in Time

As we rolled into Rapid City, South Dakota, the familiar hum of our RV engine was a comforting reminder of the countless road trips my husband and I have embarked on over the years. The open road has always been a canvas for our adventures, and this time, it led us to the Buffalo Hunt Coaster at Fort Hays. The promise of a unique ride that combined the thrill of a roller coaster with the challenge of a shooting gallery was too intriguing to pass up.

The Fort Hays Old West Town greeted us with its rustic charm, a nod to the days of yore when the West was wild and untamed. As we strolled through the film set of “Dances With Wolves,” I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the stories of the Old West that I used to teach my students. The transition from the fast-paced action of the ride to the relaxed atmosphere of the show was seamless. As we enjoyed a hearty meal, we were entertained by a lively performance that brought the spirit of the Old West to life.
