- Mount Rushmore Profile View - This tour first stops at one of the lesser-known views of Mt. Rushmore. To the west of the main entrance, a small parking lot provides a unique photo opportunity of George Washington’s profile. Although it was never intended to be an attraction, it has become one of his most famous pictures.
- Iron Mountain Road - On the way to the Norbeck Overlook, the journey travels up Iron Mountain Road, experiencing the one-of-a-kind pigtail bridges and famous one-way tunnels, with pauses for photo opportunities.
- Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway - Before sunset, the tour travels to Norbeck Overlook on Iron Mountain Road. In daylight, this mountaintop offers panoramic views of the region’s wonders: Black Hills National Forest, Mt. Rushmore Monument, Black Elk Peak, and the Badlands in the distance.
Witness the golden-red sunset to the west and the final daylight views of Mount Rushmore. Then, the bright white lights illuminate the famous faces of the presidents.
As the sky darkens, the tour stops for stargazing. A little-known fact is that due to ambient light in cities, over 80% of Americans never see the stars.
From here, travelers will experience not just the many stars, but also the Milky Way and passing satellites circling the earth. The Mercedes van has a sliding glass top that offers excellent viewing, whether closed or open.
The guide will demonstrate how to experience star watching with the use of technology. Enjoy the evening and gain knowledge to share with others.
- Iron Mountain Road - On the return journey, the tour stops at several of the famous one-way tunnels on Iron Mountain Road to view the illuminated faces of the four presidents on the mountain. A view few get to experience.
